Pumori, often referred to as "Everest's Daughter," is a stunning peak in the Mahalangur range of the Himalayas, located on the Nepal-Tibet border. Towering at 7,161 meters (23,494 feet), this majestic mountain was named by George Mallory, derived from the Sherpa word Pumo Ri, meaning "The Mountain Daughter." Pumori holds historical significance for mountaineers as one of the notable peaks for acclimatization and preparation for Everest expeditions. Its sharp ridges and snow-covered slopes stand as a testament to nature’s grandeur and challenge climbers with its technical ascents and unpredictable weather. The mountain also offers breathtaking views of the Khumbu Valley and Everest itself, making it a revered destination for adventurers and photographers alike. Pumori’s striking beauty and rugged history epitomize the spirit of the Himalayas, inspiring awe and respect among all who behold it.

Mt Pumori came into view near Gorakshep village on the EBC trail. Standing at 7,161m (23,494 ft), it oversees Kala Patthar and stands face to face with Mt Nuptse, across the Khumbu Glacier. Located on the Nepal-Tibet border in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas, it lies just eight kilometres west of Mount Everest. In Sherpa language, Pumori, means "the Mountain Daughter" . I got fantastic close up views of Mt Pumori from Kala Patthar summit, and it was looking bright in the morning sunshine.
