Fengjian Water Town (逢簡水鄉)is located at the northern end of Xingtan Town(杏壇市)Shunde District(順徳區)beside the Koi River. It has the rich water resources and beautiful natural landscape. The town is composed of multiple small sand islands. The waterway between the small sand islands in the village is more than ten kilometers in length. The red sand rock embankments are neatly built along the river channels, forming the idyllic scenery of Lingnan Water Village. Fengjian Town was one of the earliest people gathering place in Shunde, which can be traced back to the Western Han Dynasty. Due to excavation in recent years, many cultural relics of Western Han Dynasty (BC202-8AD), Tang Dynasty (618-907) and Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) were founded here. There are more than 30 various bridges in Fengjian Water Town, including a three-hole stone bridge called Mingyuan Bridge. The bridge was built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The sculptures of stone lions on it are still vivid. Jin'ao Bridge and Juji Bridge are the other two famous bridges in Fengjian Water Town. Here are some tips for your visit: Drive through the Scholar Archway, it’s a big landmark of Fengjian Water Town and it looks like it’s from a long time ago. In winter, you can take a boat ride and see the whole town from the water, it takes about 35 minutes to go 4 kilometers. It’s open from 08:30 to 21:30 and you can even take a night tour.
During the summer, Fengjian has a nice terrace and a coffee shop by the lake, perfect for afternoon tea with a great view.
