Haikou International Duty-Free City — Local services in Haikou City

The mall is beautiful, comprehensive with all the big brand names but they have a recent change in policy so if you are thinking to go there and shop, do check first… we didn’t managed to purchase anything as a result of this change in policy as we are flying out via international flight from Haikou Meilan International Airport and they have not made any arrangements for a pick-up point for you to pick-up your purchased items. Even if you are flying out to mainland China, you are only allowed 1 clothing item, 1 pair of shoes, 1 watch etc… very very odd concept but understand from the shop assistant that this was due to live streamers who flooded the mall to buy ‘on-behalf’ (代购) and making big profits!! What a pity… So check first before you make your way there if you intend to do...

It is a very big and modern mall with many international brands. However, I was unable to purchase any items that are duty free because I am flying out internationally from Haikou Meilan Airport. Duty free items are only available for purchase on the condition that you fly out from Hainan to a domestic destination (excluding Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan). Too bad for this strange policy.
