Read moreLeisure easy an hour half to two hours walk up via tile road starting from visitor centre till the top, suitable for children and seniors, beautiful views. However, for those who want more adventure, can descend via another route which after an hour tile road, at the fork, we took the left route which the locals told us will lead to the bus stop in about 2 hours but be warned the path is rocky. When we were there, it was Northface 100km run day. Mid way, there was another path via waterfall which the sign board stated additional 15mins and we took that path. How wrong, the path is extremely rocky and steep and really hard on the knees. So if you take this path, give yourself more time, it’s definitely not 15 mins more, it’s probably an hour more. All in all, we took an hour half to reach the top and almost 3 hours plus downhill to reach the bus stop and my left knee hurt...
Read moreI hiked from Tai Mo Shan country park to Tai Po via Lead Mine Pass. I was lucky to experience clear weather, as Tai Mo Shan is known to have frequent fogs. I could see HK Island & Lantau Island to the south and Shenzhen to the north. I took the paved road up Tai Mo Shan and it was a gradual and easy climb. The summit is occupied by a radio station and out of bound to the public. From Tai Mo Shan to Lead Mine Pass, the initial portion is paved but the subsequent portion is rough and rocky. The entire hike took me around 4 hours.
The country park entrance can be reached by bus 51 from Tsuen Wan West and Tsuen Wan MTR. After a 5 minute hike uphill, there is the Tai Mo Shan Country Park visitor centre where you can see maps of the park and exhibits on biodiversity and...
