From our coach, I saw a gigantic baby fast asleep under the open sky within the vast expanse of Gobi Desert, many tourists were crowding around trying to pose for their photography. As per the documentary , Professor Dong Shubing of Tsinghua University , who also raised the funds needed, created this giant sculpture design. His work team made it in blocks with 3D scanning & 3D engraving technology before piercing them together. It is constructed in red coarse sandstone measuring 15 meters long, 4.3 meters high and 9 meters wide. After the construction, the Giant Baby was given to the local people free of charge, which later became a landmark in the desolate Gobi desert of Guazhou known as “The Guazhou International Gobi Desert Sculpture Art Gallery” . This is where another sculpture called the Boundless (Wu Jie in chinese) is seen not far from the Giant Sleeping Baby. Seen here are some Camels too, for tourists who likes a ride or photography session. Many has asked why “The Son of Earth”, Professor Shubing had said, “we are all the children of Earth, this artwork carries the hope that mankind can interact with the environment in a harmonious way, just as the baby sleeps tenderly amongst the sandy horizon”. As we are driving , we came across a 12.5-meter-tall giant statue of Emperor Wu , as a stunning reminder of the rich history of China's Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD), beckoning travelers journeying across the Gobi Desert in northwest Gansu Province. Well , i suppose it do break the monotony of the bare desert road.!!!

Rock sculpture “son of the earth”. It’s 15m long and in the middle of nowhere. There are small sculptures nearby. Good spot to get a camel ride as not that crowded. Free to enter.

Sehr schöne Skulptur. 15 Meter lang. Wirklich toll gemacht.
