Thousand-Buddha Cave — Local services in Jiuquan

We visited near the end of the peak season in late oct, hence there was no issue getting tickets on the same day. However the tickets were for 2h later and not immediate as the earliest slots of the day is full. In the lull period, do not go to the ticket office in town as it was close, just head down to the attraction to buy tickets on the spot. One of the downside to Mogao caves is the ridiculous price. For 200+ cny, you get 2 videos and a short guided tour of 5 caves. The guided tour is rushed and but the caves are impressive. There are many taxis waiting at the exit to get a ride...

Les grottes de Mogao, autre nom de l'une des déclinaisons des grottes aux milles bouddhas, sont absolument extraordinaires et, de mon point de vue, représentent l'une des plus belles attractions historico-touristiques dans cette partie de la Chine. Près de 500 grottes, extraordinairement bien conservées et d'une beauté subjuguante, demeurent ; il est possible d'en visiter une partie avec un guide (obligatoire ; forte valeur ajoutée ; il se peut que vous ayez besoin d'attendre longtemps pour avoir un guide anglophone voire francophone... mais que vous soyez tout seul à "constituer le groupe").
