Never fly thru this airport avoid at all means possible. Not worth the saving of a cheap flight with China Southern. Everyone on the plane was held for 4 hours and it was only supposed to be 1.35. We were all taken into a room separately. White people in one room and black people and Indians to another room. They set out rubber gloves on the table to intimidate us. One man took of his shoes and the guard shouted at him. We were all fingerprinted and nobody spoke English. I was shocked as it is an airport and surprised people were not bilingual. The leader said it wasn't me in the photo on my passport even when I took my glasses off. When back on the plane we were late to get our next flight and had an over night stay in China. No smiles in sight. Happy to be in Thailand afterwards. Love China for the beautiful country but a will unfortunately never go as I didn't feel comfortable at all. This is just my experience...
Read moreThe airport was nice because it was pleasant and comfortable when leaving the country. However, I was a little embarrassed because the staff used an annoying way of saying, "Don't speak English." It seems that the staff can't speak any language other than Chinese. In addition, there was a little tendency to show a pretty unkind attitude. Except for that, it was pretty good. I've heard a lot that duty-free shops are not good, but they were okay except for the small ones, and there was a souvenir shop inside that also served as a beer place, but there were many people there. If you want to go there, please move early.
However, if you need to know in advance, All the lighters are confiscated. Security checks are very slow. The security inspection staff are a little unfriendly. (I don't understand, especially the...
Read moreBadly designed airport. Domestic departure side, each check in zone (A/B/C/D) are separated physically, once inside you can not walk in between check in zones. On the International departure side, again, there is no proper walk way towards the Domestic departure side and vice versa of the airport for transfers. You have to walk in the main road with no pavement hoping that incoming cars will not hit you. The adjacent high speed railway station is also a joke if you are thinking about taking the train to the airport catching an international flight. The signs from the railway exit pathway will guide you (only state "Terminal") to the Domestic departure area and you are stuck in the Domestic terminal as there is no signs guide you towards international...
