For information, the many Google reviews in here about Hua-nan-cheng were actually about Wanda Plaza, approximately a km away. Hua-nan-cheng is the name of the nearest metro station ! This review is about Wanda Plaza.
It is just quite amazing that Shenzhen has this huge ultra modern mall in its Northeast suburb, "in the middle of nowhere." We came purposely by taxi from CBD, costing nearly ¥100 to see its amazing escalator.
It is an over 200ft long escalator that goes from the ground floor to the 6th in a single span, but interestingly, it goes through a hole in the centre of a large disc on the 5th floor, where the disc is illuminated with constantly changing light patterns. It was like going through a worm hole in space ! Warning to those with dizzy disposition while taking photos or videos ! The top of this "disc" was actually an observation deck on the 5th. Amazing innovation !
Apart from being huge and ultramodern like so many malls in China, this one had an exceptionally large number of restaurants, all very attractive, all seemed to offer different food, making choices literally impossible.
