Kawagarbo peak (6740 meters / 22110 feet high) is a mesmerising snow mountain of the Meilixueshan range, a fierce natural border of Tibet, with Mekong river flowing along down there.

As it's quite far from the city of Shangri-la/Gyaitang, and as the landscape deserves more admiration and exploration, i suggest staying around Feilasi or Shengpinzhen. Target as well a good weather window, not to be disappointed of not seeing snowy peaks in case of cloudy day.

Absolutely amazing beauty of nature with the incredible golden sunrise shining upon the dramatic snow-capped peaks. The Meili Snow Mountain is located about 10 kilometers northeast of Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province.
