Marinka waterfalls is one of the place you cannot miss when you are in Minca. There is a walking of 3.5-4km approx through the Sierra climbing on the hills so it takes more or less 1.5-2 hours so I suggest you if you do not have time to ask for a ride by motorbike which cost 20.000 pesos round trip. Once there there is a final climbing of 10 minutes and you will meet the waterfalls. To access in the place you have to pay 5.000 pesos. The first one downstairs is tiny round shape water pool with a beautiful waterfall. The place is surrounded by trees , butterflies plenty of colors and some tropical plants. It is very nice. The water is frozen so you have to swim to keep you warm. The area has a place to change your clothes , a restroom area very clean with view on the jungle and a bar with view on the waterfall. On the bar there are also giant net beds to take a pictures or have a rest on the top of the waterfall. Unfortunately it seems the bar was run out of food and drink today and the service wasn t very helpful there so I got a simple coffee. Upstair there is a second waterfall which is always beatiful. The place is always in progress and I feel the owner wants constantly improve the place in a proper way. Good job. Definitevely this place...
Read moreNice location -- but the word is out (crowded). We visited on a side trip from Santa Marta (1 hour by car) and arrived in Minca at 9 am. The falls are 2 Km beyond the town of Minca which takes an hour to walk (up hill on a rough road). A better alternative is to hop on a motorcycle taxi and let them take you up. Not knowing the road condition, we drove our small rental car those 2 Km and got within 400 meters of the falls before the broken road forced us to stop and walk. NOT RECOMMENDED unless you have a tall vehicle (4x4) as the climb is quite rocky, there are deep ruts and you cross 2 streams. Walk or take a moto-taxi! You pay 5,000 per person to enter. Arrive when they open at 9 to beat the rush. By noon it was busy and we saw lots of people headed that way as we bumped...
Read moreSuch a beautiful and relaxing place. The walk from town is really nice and anyone who walks or hikes regularly will enjoy it. I’m sure the conditions vary widely based on how much rain there has been but overall I found it very manageable. The last 15 minutes once you turn off the main road are quite steep and are the main hard part. The waterfalls are lovely and swimming in the first one is so refreshing after hiking up. All around the edge are benches you can leave your things on within sight. And there is a staff person watching the pool so I felt perfectly safe in terms of leaving my things on the side. The facilities are quite nice and you can hang out and read or have lunch if you like. I thought the price (16K cop) was very reasonable....
