Visiting the coffee plantation Finca La Mina was a great experience for us all!

The hosts Gabriel and his wife Lilia were super friendly and showed us everything about their coffee culture and cultivation. Very educative! The process is environmentally friendly, which is important to them. Their life history is very interesting and the coffee is excellent! Great views and everything about it was nice and cosy! They where in no rush, it almost felt like we where just frends visiting and not tourists. We also stayed a night at a finca close by that they arranged.

En medio del paisaje cultural cafetero a solo 45 minutos de Sazagua, en las montañas de Palestina, Caldas, viven Lilia, Gabriel, Karen y Gelen, una familia caficultora de la región que te esperan para vivir un día típico con una familia campesina colombiana acompañado de historias, comida y mucho café. Una experiencia que comprueba la sinergia que existe entre la tradición y el turismo.

Al ser el café hoy en día una actividad agropecuaria que le da la posibilidad a los caficultores de tener ingresos suficientes para subsistir mas no para ahorrar, le brindamos nuestro apoyo a Gabriel financiando una obra que quería hacer desde un principio pero que no había podido realizar. Toda la obra fue construida por él utilizando la guadua como elemento principal. Esta remodelación permitió admirar la increíble vista que tuvieron todo el tiempo oculta y se volvió nuestro lugar de encuentro para almorzar, compartir y tomar café. Uno de los valores agregados de esta experiencia es la posibilidad de poder sembrar tu propia planta de café y recibir periódicamente fotos del estado de ella. Si quieres volver a la finca en un futuro a recoger el café que tu sembraste lo puedes hacer, si no te es posible el traslado, Gabriel también se ofrece a enviarte tú café en la tostión que más te guste a donde estés. Esta es una experiencia que comprueba la sinergia que existe entre la tradición y el turismo, la pregunta es: ¿Por qué no hacer una labor parecida con varias familias campesinas colombianas? Con tu visita contribuyes a hacer de este sueño...

We had an incredible time touring this family coffee farm. Our guide took us on the back of a Jeep for the second half of the ride, which allowed us to experience the stunning countryside on the way there. The family was very warm and welcoming. They showed us the entire process from planting a coffee bean, raising the plants, picking the beans, drying them, roasting, grinding etc and invited us to participate in each step. The experience culminated with a huge and delicious lunch....
