We walked there as we read that we can also have a drink and we were thinking of enjoying a nice break. When we arrived, the sign said that a donation of minimum 15000 COP is recommended for the visit. We went at the entrance thinking we can enjoy a drink first and then decide if we want to see the birds. But once we arrived there, the lady didn’t let us pass unless we pay 15000 COP. We asked if we can enjoy a drink and a break first and she said we need to pay the entrance and asked us where we heard that we can have a drink there.

Any place that asks for a donation, usually let’s you see it and then you can decide how much you want to donate. I would have been open to that, but promoting it as a donation but asking for it as an entrance fee instead and before seeing anything, doesn’t seem fair.

Either you mention the entrance fee directly, instead of a donation or you just let people see it and then donate.

And all the signs should mention the entrance price, even at the cross road when the hike starts to this...

Tourist trap..My gut feeling was telling me not to go here...$15,000 entry for a basic coffee or hot chocolate and to sit and watch a couple of hummingbird feeders, hardly any flowers, no walking paths...many more hummingbird birds and others to see at the finca earlier on the route Seemed to be a couple of empty education rooms and a nice lodge being built (for visitors to the reserve and not someone's house hopefully) but no information available or visitor engagement officers. I'm sure they do a lot but certainly...

Entrance isn’t worth it. We had different expectations. We thought that they would show us something about the hummingbirds, different species, how they live, etc. It was nothing like that. They charged us 20K for sitting on a bench and drink a chocolate. It is true that there are hummingbirds, but the whole region is full of them. The view is not special and you get better views all around the area. Recommendation to the owners: if you charge 20K, at least offer something, not...

A great spot to take a break during the loop. We’ve never been that closed to many colibris! They have several kinds and it was amazing to have a hot chocolate with cheese while watching them. Make sure you go early to avoid crowds and they have limited food options so don’t count on this spot to provide you with foods If you start counterclockwise be prepared: the hike up is not over after the Colibri house unlike some blogs are saying.

I love this place with the hummingbirds! You can see the hummingbirds drink sugar water with their tongue up close! The rare hummingbird with beautiful long blue tail comes here too! That’s very cool! The ladies working here speak only Spanish but try to talk to them with gestures and Spanish words! They are very kind and friendly:) It’s a long way to clim up here but it’s worth visiting!
