We got to the island with no reservation for anything, and that seemed to be a problem with everyone we were greeted with a scolding from the first person we saw after getting down the plane about why we didn't have a reservation and why we didn't have a taxi reserved. I guess we are used to traveling everywhere else where you can find those things easily. After that, the taxi driver didn't really want to explain anything but also had an attitude with us because we wanted to go to the islands. Terrible start to our trip.
If you notice, the bad reviews are all about the attitude of some people.
We then just wanted to go to the nicer beach of the island to at least get a beach day since we just flew to Aitutaki. And we met the manager's of Bishop's Cruise. They really saved the day for us. Helped us to get on a trip to the other islands to see one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The crew had great jokes all around and was super accommodating. Then we got back and had dinner with the view of the amazing beach paradise and enough time to get us back to the airport.
It seems that the best way to travel to Aitutaki is having everything reserved ahead of time, but somehow, we got it done with not too much planning thanks to Bishop's Cruise crew.
Things to note: We were one of the first ones to get to One Foot Island. This made us have the place to ourselves for a while.
Sadly, this trip didn't include the honeymoon island, but really, this whole lagoon was spectacular anywhere you could see so hard to have moved the needle...
Read moreMy wife and I took the Bishops Cruises for the first time this past weekend. Great communication from the outset. We were picked up from our accommodation and then taking directly to the boat with around ten other people.
The whole day was amazing it really was the staff aren’t over the top of you and respect your privacy to just sit back and chill. Other guests noted this that they enjoyed just being able to relax throughout the hop from each island to the next. The swimming with the giant trevally is an incredible experience and then the walk from the boat to one foot island is something we hadn’t experienced before having previously been on another tour when in Aitutaki. That itself was an amazing experience then arriving to One Foot Island we spent a perfect amount of time to eat an amazing lunch prepared by staff. Lots of different varieties it really was a great feast before relaxing again in the water. The staff then took us back with a story of how the name One Foot Island came about before we were dropped back to our accommodation.
A magical day that will live long in the memory and with the cruise being slightly cheaper than others in $140 per person it’s well worth it. I would highly recommend this tour and will do it again...
Read moreWe had 2 weeks in Aitutaki and did 2 full day trips out to the islands with Bishops. We had the best days with Matta looking after us and telling us what we were doing that day and a bit of history about the places. We stopped briefly at Akaimi the most beautiful place on earth and then onto a snorkelling spot for about half an hour or so....lots of fish to see and the water was divine.....then onto One Foot Iand where you can see lots of fish there on the man made reef and giant clams too. Matta put on one of the best lunches I had eaten the whole trip and I jokingly said I'd go for the food alone...especially the bbq tuna that Captain Timmy cooked to perfection...all eaten under the Bishops hut on One Foot. We had plenty of time there before the other boats pulled up. Then back on the boat and home by 330. It was the best two days we had and I cannot recommend this day trip enough. We usually do private tours but the groups ones were unreal and not overcrowded at all.....plenty of room for everyone and plenty of snorkelling time. Do yourself a favour...give the girls a call and book this tour if you come here.....it's...
