We visited Río Celeste, located within Tenorio Volcano National Park. As usual, you need to purchase tickets in advance. A helpful tip is to go early in the morning when there are fewer people.

The park is well-maintained, with a trail that runs through it. Along the way, you can spot a variety of wildlife (snakes, monkeys, sloths, etc.). Loved every bit of it. Amazing hike and waterfalls. Not over crowded at all. Loved reading the science behind the reason for blue waters and the rivers joining different colors. No need for a guide at all. Even if you’re a novice hiker. Hiking boots, poles, sunscreen and lots of water are needed. Swimming is not allowed in any of the waterfalls. Gorgeous picture taking opportunities. Last entry was 3 pm in December. Booking in advance is recommended. Loved the souvenir shop across the street. The staff is very kind and friendly . Be prepared for climbing up and down a...

Due to above-mentioned rainfall, Río Celeste was just like any other river.

However, the wildlife made for an unforgettable experience: snake, coati, tapir, owl and sloth!

Judging from a guides excitement when we told them a tapir was ahead: we got...
