It seems to be that I am going to only be repeating what most people have been saying about this place. I had a pleasure to meet Don José, who is the owner and the main guide of the sanctuary. He told me that he used to work in transportation, but after Covid, he took his piece of land and started working on creating a sanctuary for sloths. So far, it looks like it has worked, and he is in the process of making this sanctuary, a little more formal. Therefore, he does not have any signs on the side of the road. It is very important to understand that in order to get to this attraction, you need to look for Piscinas El Trapiche. At first, you will be conflicted before turning on this road, but his property is located right at the dead end. One of the things that we liked was the personalized guidance as well as all the education and explanation provided directly by the owner. He has continued to plant trees for the sloths to leave comfortably and safely. He will also give you a tour through the forest to see frogs and birds. He also has a garden with multiple species and he will show you tips and tricks on planting and maintaining different plans. We also had the experience to squeeze the juice out of sugarcane and take it in the form of the most pure lemonade you will ever taste. And the best is that the price is extremely affordable. We paid almost half of what you would around La Fortuna for a very thorough tour. You will get a chance to see the slots in their own natural habitat where they are currently thriving. I would like to encourage everybody to visit this place and continue to support Don José in his kind endeavor to protect...

Caribbean Rainforest Sloth is an absolute must-do activity while in Costa Rica. Jose has built an INCREDIBLE place, and he is a warm and welcoming host. It is apparent he loves what he is doing and loves caring for the forest and the animal communities that call it home.

We stayed one night on the property in our truck camper, and when it became dark, the caretaker, Luis, led us around the garden area to search for red-eyed frogs and whatever else we could find. We had luck seeing a few different frogs, and looked forward to the tour the next day.

The tour surpassed our expectations. We saw many animals; sloths, poison dart frogs, blue-Jean frogs and even an otter! Jose was thrilled when I spotted it playing in the river that runs through his property. He had never seen one on his property. We even saw a rubber tree.

At the end of our tour, we were lucky enough to witness a baby sloth climbing down a tree to go to the bathroom which they do only once about every 8 days. It was an incredible thing to watch.

Ending the tour with fresh-squeezed sugar cane juice (that you get to squeeze yourself) mixed with lime juice from freshly-squeezed local limes, is a wonderful addition to the tour.

I HIGHLY recommend visiting this place. While deforestation is happening at a rapid rate, Jose is doing his part to save the habitats for...

We had an amazing experience exploring the rainforest with Jose. He was kind and patient and had a great love and knowledge of sloths and other animals we spotted. We were able to see several sloths and even a baby! He took his time to explain different physical characteristics of the animals and show us sharper images with his own telescope and binoculars. Our tour lasted more than two hours and ended with a tour of his garden with multiple flowers and fruits. We even got to make and drink fresh sugarcane juice! Jose had a great respect for the animals and was truly excited to show us animals in the wild. We had a genuinely tranquil and peaceful time. We were able to communicate throughout with google translate. Our kids had a great time and will remember this memorable excursion!

My child wrote this review: This place was so fun! It was a nice nature walk, and we saw so many animals like sloths, toucans, and frogs. We saw like 5 sloths, and they were so cute! There's tons of plants here, which is so cool. And we even got to drink sugar cane liquid! That was probably the best part. Everyone there is really nice and my experience is awesome. They explained everything about the animals and plants. I would rate it 5/5 stars. So if you're looking a place to see some nature and...
