WOW - best tour company and local family owned business! Thanks so much to Amelia for taking care of us! Amelia helped to organise our Chirripo experience and ensure everything went as smoothly as possible. She was on-hand every step of the way no matter how many questions I had and helped given our booking was quite last minute. The planning and extra care from Caminatos / Selva White Water made sure we were just focussed on our hike. I would recommend their services to anyone! And would definitely use them again.
Great value for money - The package we got included the organisation and booking of our permits, lodging, porters, meals (breakfast on the morning before the hike, lunch when we arrived at base camp, dinner, breakfast and lunch or dinner). The office even took pictures of us when we checked-in as a safety measure accompanied by a what’s app checking in with us to ensure we reached base camp ok. It makes me smile as i write this :)
They have partnered with a hotel right at the bottom of the trail. This is where you will stay on your first night and when you finish your hike they have a place for you to shower. In the early morning, Jorge collects you from the hotel and drops you to the start of the trail so you don’t waste any energy; and he has a welcoming smile also there to collect you when you finish. I hope everyone can experience the familial warmth that this tour company offers to its customers. Thanks...
Read moreKayakers- Interested in class 2 to class 5? Travis and Selva Adventures provides an amazing opportunity while your visiting Costa Rica or just plan a bunch of days for kayaking. I organized a last minute trip to Costa Rica with 4 days of whitewater kayaking. Travis was immediately responsive to emails, provided amazing options for boating, great kayaking gear, professional guiding, amazing knowledge of the area and of course extremely safety oriented. Besides providing a professional adventure, he was personal, provided great local information and was very helpful when I experienced some transportation issues. My only regret is that I waited so long to go kayaking in Costa Rica. I will be returning very soon. Selva Adventures is based out of La Virgen and the Sarapiqui river. There are other creeks and rivers that are in the same area which provide any level of whitewater or calm water adventures. You can visit anytime of the year because the river flows are most often higher during each day because of hydroelectric power generation supported by daily rain events. So, whether you want to inflatable kayak, raft or hard boat Selva Adventures can accommodate. The local people, food and prices were an additional bonus. Take a step away from the bigger tourist areas and check out this gem! Send them an email or give them a call.

Read moreWe cannot say enough to compliment the fabulous rafting experience with David and Ronnie. Everything was VERY professional and we felt safe and well taken care of during the experience. David is an expert guide on the water and knows the river well so we had much excitement and no fear. He pointed out much fauna and flora that we would not have even seen had he not directed our attention. Ronnie accompanied us in his kayak snapping pictures at the most opportune moments. We were given the downloaded e pics as part of the package at the trip's end. It was fun watching Ronnie trick out in his kayak. David and Ronnie treated us to a delicious pineapple, mango and cookie snack halfway through paddling which gave us time to stretch after 2 hours in the boat. We ended with a delicious tipico meal. This river trip was PERFECTLY planned. This was a true highlight of our 8 day Costa Rica adventure. Pura Vida...
