Great small domestic airport. I arrived about an hour before the flight and was there alone for a bit - but most people got there about 30-45minutes before. You come in the gate, say hola to the security guard, and stop in the small office and provide the person there with your ID. Small planes have weight and balance to deal with, so they will weigh both you and your bag.
There appeared to be some water available - however I didn't need any so never actually tried them. Otherwise there's some shade for mid day with the roof and some seats.
The plane lands, unloads, then you walk out to it when they tell you, get on and just move forwards to the seat farthest towards the front. Once loaded up they restart their engines, do a standard engine run-up, taxi onto the runway, and take off. Nice and simple.
I flew on Sansa, the plane was in great shape visually. A turboprop with Garmin glass avionics for the pilots. It's still a small plane - so if you happen to have some ANR (Active Noise Reduction) earbuds or standard ear plugs you might want to keep them handy and use them. It's not as loud as a Cessna 172, but it would make the flight that much more peaceful. I had some but left them in my bag that got put under the plane - the thought crossed my mind that I'd want to have them for my kid if my family was with me on this trip.
Most of my trip I noticed they were taking off and departing towards/from the coast. So you'll most likely depart towards the coast assuming winds are not excessively strong and require takeoff/landing in the other direction). If you'll be heading to LIR you'll end up turning right after departure before reaching the coast line, so I'd suggest you try to get on the left side of the plane for...

They also don’t tell you beforehand about the weight limit (which makes sense they have one, they just don’t tell you your stuff could possibly not make it on the flight). So, if you’re unlucky, they just don’t put your luggage on your flight. If you’re going to SJO you have the risk of going back home with your luggage sitting in their open-air airport while you leave the country. They don’t communicate and tell you when you can expect your stuff. Great for domestic travel but beware trying to leave the country with a connecting flight in SJO because your luggage may not make it on...
