We did the dual ATV tour. The boyfriend was driving the whole 25 miles. The interesting part about this tour was that we ended up being the only ones on this tour. We did a 3:00 pm tour as the weather was nice and we had just finished a Manuel Antonio National Park tour. The tour guide was 15-20 minutes late to pick us up from the hotel and we had the hotel staff give the establishment a ring in case they had forgotten about us. When we got there, the tour guide told us to put everything we had in the back of the ATV that was going to be assigned to us. Shortly afterward, we were served a traditional homemade Costa Rican dish. We opted for the vegetarian version which had plantains, rice, beans, and mixed veggies.

About this point, we could hear thunder and we started to get worried the tour might cancel but it did not which was good. We recall asking him if he thought it was going to rain and he said possibly. He locked a pair of ponchos in the back of his ATV just in case.

The tour guide did a quick safety briefing and showed us the ins and outs of the ATV before proceeding. Once we finished the test drive, he took us on a scenic ATV tour up a mountain where you will get the chance to see two waterfalls.

We managed to see a huge iguana crossing at the property right before starting our tour which was awesome!

As soon as we started our drive, the rain started to come down, heavier and heavier. We passed many bridges, mud pools, rivers, rocks, and the countryside living of many of the local residents. You will truly get to experience the living conditions of the locals.

The rain made it a bit difficult for us to thoroughly enjoy the ride, We had to constantly remove excess water build up on our glasses and the constant rain pour combined with the speed of the tour made the rain hit our skin hard. Nonetheless, the ride was incredible as it made the tour a thrilling challenge to try and get through huge areas filled with water.

You'll get to go very high up a hill and stop at the midpoint to take pictures. This sight was truly incredible. What should have been a view of the city of Quepos and Manuel Antonio turned out to be an abyss of fog similar to Monteverde....it was eerie and miraculous. We could not take photos for long as our phones were getting super wet from the rain. We then went up this thin, questionable bridge that lead to a waterfall spot. This was also a wonderful sight to experience.

Upon going back downhill, we stopped at a waterfall that ran through the road and into a reservoir. We did not want to swim in it as we were already soaking wet.

When we returned, the tour guide left to shower and change while we were drying ourselves and waited for him. He then told us not to move and that he would back up his truck to get us. We laid our towel down on the seat to not mess up his truck.

All in all, we did not give this establishment a 5-star rating as we found the tour guide a bit awkward. He first showed up late, then there was minimal conversation from start to finish, followed by not offering the ponchos he carried supposedly for us, finished by being worried we were going to get his truck wet. The tour, however, was extraordinary. The scenery, the thrill, the roads, the traditional Costa Rican dish, it was...

A MUST DO ~ Second time to this part of CR and highly recommend this experience. Details and things to bring below! It was one of our favorites by far!! We did the ATV/Waterfall Not only do you get to truly explore the countryside and mountains/ jungle and local areas, you are doing it on an ATV so you have a lot more fun than a bus or other means…we went by rivers waterfalls (definitely jump in and cool off!) and to the top of the mountain for some awesome views.

Great things about this tour: everyone could do it - didn’t need to be in hiking shape so was great for all in our party to do something (if you have all experienced drivers they also offer an advanced ATV tour ~ just inquire) but the one we went on was perfect and enjoyable for experienced drivers in our party too. Tons of inclines / speed etc. not too hot and breezy - you’re moving so it’s not terribly hot or humid quality gear and ATVs ~ good helmets, good vehicles and trained staff. They were safe and articulated precautions to our group / did test drives etc.

Lunch after was promptly served and tasted delicious ~ a cold water or tea was the right touch to cool down.

When going… wear clothes that can get dirty and dusty running shoes or comfortable closed toe shoes are best have a suit on so you can jump in / bring a small towel to dry off and sunscreen if you have a mountable go pro (go chest or something ) bring as it would be cool to capture while driving (you want your hands on the steering wheel so phones for photos are when you’re stopped).

Kevin and Edo (spelling might be off here!) were awesome and...

AMAZING!!! We arrived at the meeting place and they had us follow their car to their ‘base’ where we could safely park our car (we could have left luggage/bags in it if needed).

Because we did an afternoon tour we started with lunch - a typical casado and peach iced tea (yum!).

After lunch, our guide, Kevin, informed us on how to drive the ATVs and we did a little ‘course’ to make sure we knew what we were doing. It was just us and 1 other couple, both on double ATVs.

Kevin took us the normal route through the palm plantation and along back roads, stopping along the way to share interesting facts and take pictures/videos of us. My boyfriend had so much fun driving the ATV and I got to sit and enjoy the views and animals. Since we were a small group and both drivers were experienced, we finished the regular drive rather quickly, so Kevin took us to extra places and let us drive more. There were opportunities to switch drivers if you wanted to.

We received water bottles about halfway through as well. There was opportunity to swim in multiple waterfalls, but it was a little chilly so we didn’t.

I enjoyed this tour much more than I expected and appreciated the additional facts and drive. We had so much fun, and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for something to do near...
