Crekvina — Local services in Grad Kastav

These ruins were once a magnificent cathedral built by Jesuits which owned the city for a long period of time but crushed down during the first stronger earthquake due to poor engineering. Panoramic photos were taken from Žudika tower, the highest point of Kastav city center. Despite the fact that the tower, the highest of nine towers which were part of the wall surrounding the medieval city, was once a place for executions performed by city rulers, this is still the best point to look around in the whole region. From here you can see not only the core of this fantastic medieval town but the whole Kvarner bay with the city of Rijeka, sky-scraping mountains of Gorski Kotar and proud Učka mountain rising up to the clouds. Kastavska Crekvina je najveća crkvena građevina na našoj obali Jadrana. Danas je ruševina. Izaziva prijepore stoga što je nejasno kad je podignuta, odnosno kada je i u kakvim okolnostima srušena. Kastavska Crekvina najveća je crkva na našoj obali Jadrana Građena u neposrednoj blizini velike kastavske Zborne crkve sv. Jelene križarice, Crekvina je bila dugačka 50 metara, široka 20 m te isto toliko visoka. U nju je moglo stati više od 3.000 vjernika! Na svakoj strani crkve bilo je po pet kapelica. S glavnim žrtvenikom bilo u njoj 11 oltara. Veličina dostojna katedrale. U Bakru, usporedbe radi, crkva sv. Andrije (38 x 24 metara, visoka 15 m) s devet oltara bila je manja samo od zagrebačke katedrale u doba kad dovršena 1853. godine.
