Veliki Zavižan — Local services in Grad Senj

This place wouldnt be as fun if this dog didnt find us. He ran at us like a burst of energy we petted him and he followed and and became our guide!! We even reached the top of a mountain. He helped us find the way and show us alot amazing places! He helped us through sun,rain,mountains,forests and much more!! He was so brave and energetic he wasnt scared of anything! He was also very kind and good he always listened and always stayed with us! I gave him the nickname Brownie because he is really sweet!!! we had a picknick together and alot lot more. Zavižan summit is well known and a part of the most significant and most visited area in Northern Velebit National Park. Mali Rajinac with 1699 meters is the highest peak and Veliki Zavižan with 1676 meters is among the highest but probably most popular due to the vicinity of mountain hut and the spectacular view of the seaside with islands and vast forests on the other side. The hike is fast and easy in summer but be ready for snow in all other seasons. The mountain hut with meteorological station is always functional and there is a botanical garden im the valley between the hut and Zavižan summit. Veliki Zavižan je čudovit vrh v Severnem Velebitu. Nanj smo se odpravili po cesti iz Svetega Juraja do parkirišča Zavižan, kjer je veliko prostora za obiskovalce. Na vrh vodita strma in položna pot (trajanje pohoda je približno 45 minut). Strma poti vodi mimo botaničnega vrta Velebit in se začne strmo vzpenjati. Na poti je več podrtih dreves, ki otežujejo pohod. Na lepi jasi na polovici poti se strma pot združi s položno in po nekaj 100 metrih preide v pot obkroženo s pritlikavim borom, kjer ni več sence. Zadnjih 50 metrov pod vrhom je težavnejših s skalnatimi predeli. Pot ni nikjer izpostavljena, je pa potrebna velika pazljivost, da ne pride do padca ali kakšnega zvina gležnja. Pot je jasno označena z markacijami in smerokazi.

Na vrhu se odpirajo čudoviti pogledi na Velebitske vrhove in kvarnerske otoke Rab, Grgur, Prvič, Goli otok, Krk in nižje tudi na Pag. Na vrhu levo na skali je žig, če nimate črnila, je žig na voljo tudi v planinski koči Zavižan. Na sredini vrha je škatla z vpisno knjigo - ta je bila premočena, popisana in raztrgana. Položna pot je razen zgornjega dela precej enostavna in odlična za spust.
