I had a really awful experience at this place. It's unfortunate, because I went there at the recommendation of a friend who'd had a great instructor there. However, there's only one instructor/employee at this shop anymore: the owner of the shop, Jonathan, and he clearly hates his job. My friend and I went for our Advanced Open Water certification, and from the moment we met, Jonathan was impatient and clearly annoyed to have to interact with us. It was the worst possible learning environment, having an instructor who didn't actually teach anything and then acted like we were idiots when we didn't already know how to do the thing we were there to learn. I wound up being so stressed out by him that I didn't dive at all (which elicited some downright mean remarks from Jonathan), but my buddy did, and he said Jonathan marked him as having successfully completed skills that he definitely didn't complete. In other words, Jonathan is just interested in collecting your money and saying that you're certified, rather than actually ensuring that you learn the skills. Aside from the hostile attitude and the outright safety concerns, the level of services provided is not nearly what I've received on any other paid dive I've done. Be prepared to get fully kitted up (tank, weights, everything) at the top of a hill, walk about 300 meters down the hill and into the water, then walk back up that hill with all your gear/weights/tank on after the dive, then wash and put away all of your gear yourself. (Up to you to decide whether you think that's a dealbreaker; it's just the sort of thing that customers may want to know when choosing a dive shop, especially if they have limited mobility, so I'm mentioning it here.) I could refute every single thing he says in his response, but I've already spent more than enough time interacting with this guy - I'm done. Decide for yourself whether you want to do business with somebody who's going to respond to their customers'...
Read moreI booked a PADI open water course at short notice from the uk. Jonathan was reassuring, kind, patient and clearly a very knowledgeable and experienced diver.
I was staying at the Mediterranean hotel next door, and walking across to the four seasons was a breeze.
The course itself was great, I had interactions with Jonathan and Chloe, who were both fantastic instructors and made sure I was always within my comfort zone whilst progressing through the PADI course.
Their equipment was all in great condition, with MARES gear, which is clearly rugged and fit for purpose.
I will be returning as soon as I can to complete the PADI advanced course and build up to getting down to the Zenobia!
Thanks guys, a fantastic experience throughout and definitely some memories that I...
