I stayed at chateau for one night and must be said, that I was expecting much more from it. The hotel room was nice, but basic. We were lucky and had view to the church and that was phenomenal (mainly in the morning). The bed was not very comfy and room was little colder than I am used to, but for sleeping its fine. The receptionist was the nicest person in the whole hotel though! She even recommended where to go around, what to see and was always smiling at us.
About food - by taste is was okay, we had buffet dinner and that had perfect beans in some Bacon and loads of options for further snack like devil eggs or filled tomatoes. Also the desserts like pannacotta there were very good. Only problém and that was quite significant one was missing alergen labels or some labels in general. Nobody know what it is in the bowl and what are they actually taking. The labels were missing even that 2 glutenfree people were present and we told them this information long time before our arrival. Long time to prepare. The same problem happened at breakfast. And this is not just people that are intolerant, but also to some minor alergies for example for some fruit. I would count that as a crucial mistake. Also 2 glutenfree people and no glutenfree pastry present (not even the puffed rice breads that i am used to get in hotels and are completely fine!) That is the reason of less stars at food.
Service was the last thing here. The waiter at the lunch was rude, he was complaining about too many people there (we had reservation for 20+ people, they knew about us). Also the question about glutenfree version of the food obviously annoyed him.
Long story short, hotel from my point is not bad and the stay was definitely something new. The restaurant had good food, but unfortunately terrible service and labeling. Wouldnt eat there again if I...
Read moreThis is quite a unique stay and not expensive and well worth adding to your itinerary.
The console is actually the property of a university in Brno and they use it for study trips and some kinds of courses. If that are spare spaces, then tourists and visitors can also book in. We booked online at the website and prepaid the same day and there was a 20% promotion price.
As you'd expect for an academic Institution, the furnishings and atmosphere are more about simplicity, concentration, study and knowledge than about luxury and indulgence. However, the buildings are amazing with big high ceilings and lovely views. Thanks to the academic sponsorship, the restaurant has incredibly reasonable prices and for its setting and views is also well worth a diversion. A great help yourself Breakfast included in the price.
They staff are mostly young, perhaps students from the Uni doing summer work, and speak good English and give authentic recommendations and information
For the rooms, we paid about €10 more per head per night than the cheaper options in town. Which was well worth it for the big elegant spaces and atmosphere...
Read moreThis place is a jewel and a rarity among this type of tourist attraction because they have a very regular local clientele (as opposed to busloads of tourists that they can assume they'll never see again). So ambience is perfect and palatial, there's lots of choice of seating areas, it's perfect for singles, couples, families and even large groups and the food is awesome. Lovers of quality game meat will be astonished at the variety of offerings for very reasonable prices and this is explained by the fact that the restaurant is vertically integrated (via Mendel University, the local Hunters' cooperative, etc.) into the local supply chain so there's always an awesome seasonal selection for little more than cost price. And don't forget to check their freezer where you can buy the freshest forest produce for home also. Service is A+, check website for lunch specials on...
