SPECTACULAR VIEWS!! Make sure you take the boat to the Restaurante Pescaderia Presa de Taveras! The boat ride is fun with loud music and kids love it! At the restaurant, the staff is upbeat and stays to chat with you a bit, the owner came by each table as well to check on things, very family friendly, has swings, mary-go-rounds, seesaws and such for the kids. Fun colored tables for the little ones, palm covered canopies and kiosks, so fun! Food was made perfectly, we had a huge fried cotorra fish with tostones, a shrimp al ajillo mofongo, chicken strips and fries, 2 lemonades and 2 beers. We were 3 adults and 1 child and there were leftovers. Big portions, amazing mofongo, the fish was seasoned perfecrly. YOU WONT REGRET COMING HERE, DEFINITELY WORTH THE TRIP AND WIL COME MBACK EVERY TIME I VISIT THE DR!!! Accepts cash and card. Do try their coconut sweets, oh, sweet goodness.. Our bill was under $RD 2,800. The boat was $RD100, but we tipped him an extra 100 because the driver was amazing with my very heavy autistic son, he carried him on and off the boat both times we rode. He was hilarious too. You can drive all the way up to the restaurant, but do get on the boat...

La Presa de Tavera está ubicado en la provincia Santiago al sur de la capital provincial Santiago de los Caballeros. Esta presa de gravedad sobre el río Yaque del Norte fue la primera de este tipo construida en la República Dominicana.

Su construcción inició en el año 1969, bajo el cargo de la empresa estadounidense Emkai y supervisada por la firma alemana Lahmeyer International. Fue inaugurada el 27 de febrero de 1973 por el Presidente Joaquín Balaguer.

El embalse tiene una capacidad de 170,000,000 m3. Representó el primer gran embalse construido en la Repúbloica Dominicana y estimuló la construcción de otras presas en el país.

La presa cuenta con seis compuertas de desague que permiten desfogar mil metros cúbicos de agua por segundo, y dos vertederos que pueden desfogar más de 10 mil metros cúbicos por segundo.

La Presa de Tavera fue diseñada para la producción de energía hidroeléctrica, pero también abastece agua para el consumo público y la irrigación agrícola en el Cibao Central. El agua del embalse es dirigida hacia la central hidroeléctrica situada en la orilla del río Bao, que cuenta con dos turbinas tipo Francis de 48 MW para una potencia...

Beautiful view & good food. The employees are very nice & they have added swings, seesaw & hammocks in front of the restaurant.

They should make some stairs to walk to the boat, but the walk isn’t even a minute so it’s not...
