Just back from 10 days in August and it was so hot on arrival, but the sea breeze is a constant and it took the edge of a 38c heat. To be honest within 72 hours we were pretty much used to it, and I recommend doing a few days on the sunbed to settle in before any adventures.||So, The Royal Beach, it is a little bit of heaven on the Red Sea. The best-looking building on the shore in the area, it is beautiful, colourful and most of all peaceful.||It has 2 very good pools, one probably more suited for kids, the other one of the best I have ever used. It has deep bits, shallow bits, twists, turns and a waterfall. Pools do close a bit early in my opinion but when open it is a real WOW. And there is now talk of a hot tub too, so it gets better and better.||The location is a cracker, not far from a bus route to Old Town, the marina and the popular El Gouna. Uber is available as well as the normal local cabs that slow down and toot their horns when the see tourists on foot. There are 3 cracking supermarkets nearby, one is 24/7, Best Way has everything local and from home, and City Market is cheap, friendly and they all deliver to Royal Beach too. ||There are takeaways on the main road, a few good restaurants and you can watch the football at the Miami Pub up the road. ||Staff at the Royal Beach are very nice, some talk better English than some others but the front desk is always manned and happy to help and offer tips and advice if needed to make your stay better.||But it is all about the beach, lots of wooden sunbeds with cushions and umbrellas offering good shade next to the light blue water that is so warm in August. It is hotter in the sea than the pools and you can walk to the end of the private pier before getting in for a splash, snorkel, or swim. Kite Surfing is on offer from the school on site, but also surfers are regulars on the private beach too. Looking forward to seeing the new clean sand that I was told is planned for the beach at some stage. ||If you want party central then this is not the place for you, but if it is a place to totally relax and switch off then maybe the Royal Beach is where you need to go when...

The pool bar on site does food, never used it but many people did. Or when closed try the many takeaways on the main road, a few good restaurants and you can watch the football, eat, and drink at the Miami Pub up the road.

Read moreDespite the hotel being a tad rundown, I enjoyed my stay. Well maintained and spotless. The features of the hotel provided are rather deceitful I must say! WiFi is not included as the adds claim, and the only free one is within the reception area and it is slow and inadequate to even chat on WhatsApp. Abysmal! The rooms with partial sea view are actually classified as "standard rooms" and will be facing the opposite side. You must make clear at the time of booking that you wish a room with sea view for a surcharge. Word to the wise! Food variety offered at the restaurant is good and for any tastes. As a vegetarian I did not struggle at all. Every day there's a different menu and choices are plentiful. People there are genuinely nice and some stand out. A special praise to receptionist Mohamed Hajee for being a kind, smiley and approachable member of the staff to stuck up a chat with in the middle of the night before...
