This is not a kite spot. This is not a beach club. This is not a seaside restaurant. And this is definitely not a party venue.

If that’s what you’re looking for, don’t go to Makani.

Because Makani is something else: the loveliest kite community on planet earth. A place that quickly becomes family...almost dangerously contagious.

It starts with the masters of ceremony at the reception, Sophie, Khaled and Badr, continues with Ahmed at the bar and restaurant, all the way through the beach boys, and peaks with Amir’s tuk-tuk service (think Rolls Royce, El Gouna edition). They are all mind readers...they know exactly what you need before you even ask. My only advice? Trust them.

And if, like me, you still want to invest in your kite progression, Makani has a secret weapon: Bakar. The best kite coach I could have wished for. His rare mix of empathy and technical skill pushed me further than I thought possible in just a week. From close one-on-one interaction to long-distance rides across the lagoon, he has all the equipment and methods to work with you wherever you are. I’ve seen him coach people of all levels and in multiple languages..always adapting, always clear. Truly impressive, just like his fellow instructors. Add to that the lagoon’s crystal-clear waters, it feels like riding in heaven.

The gear? Top-notch. From Duotone to Core, everything is immaculately maintained, with options for every wind condition. Whether you rent or travel with your own, support is total from pumping to launching, landing, storage, and everything in between...again this will make leaving very hard!

And still, this review doesn’t do justice to all the Makani people I interacted with. Everyone is there to help...staff, instructors, and the whole team... no matter who is officially working with you. That’s what makes it a family. And you feel it the moment you taste it. Absolutely Perfect..

After a long wait of 2 years, we finally got to return to Makani Beach for a much needed 16 days Kitesurfing.

Wow the station has just got bigger and better. Makani Beach must be one of, if not the best stations I have kited at ever. The station has the most chilled and efficient staff, the storage facilities are spacious, and the restaurant and bar area has plenty of space with the perfect balance of delicious and nutritious food. The gym and work areas including the toilets are immaculately clean as is the rest of the station.

The most important thing for me was the actual kiting.. This spot offers it all with so much space you feel you have the place to yourself. I managed to get a couple of hours Foiling in each day and the free ride areas offer the perfect conditions. It was nice to not have to wear booties for the first time ever after 14 years kiting at different stations in El Gouna. I defiantly need to make mention of the beach boys. These guys are best!! They are on hand to help with all your needs, and they must be the friendliest bunch of guys I have ever meet on a beach. Well done guys!!

The only complaint I have is that I miss my bowl of Acai Dream each day. This is a must try when you visit. Ohh… and the sunset Stellas are right up there as well..

Makani Beach Club is my favourite place to hang out at El Gouna!

I really felt like home here 😊 I took some beginner kite-lessons with Theresa and I must say, the teaching was amazing! Teachers here are so professional and friendly, and she made me fall in love with kitesurfing after this first kite experience here! I tell you, it is the perfect spot to start kitesurfing! I learned so many things and felt always safe!

If there is no wind or if you don’t want to kitesurf, you can enjoy the beautiful beach bar with delicious food and excellent service! The whole staff at Makani is so friendly that you will hardly go to another beach club or kite-station once you have been here.

You can hang out easily the whole day, playing beach-volley, kitesurfing, doing your workout at the GYM „beachmonkeyz”, eating healthy food (also many vegan and vegetarian options), or just relaxing. There is also the possibility to get a massage or even beauty treatments. What can you expect more? I will be back for sure, and I totally recommend to all of you to check out this place!
