#701 Apt — The building doesn’t seem so new. But the building itself seems well maintained. Their strict policy of no visitors is hard to understand. Especially, since they scrutinize every car and person staying there. Apt 701 is not recommended at this time. Unless they fix everything that is wrong here. They call it a “luxury suite.” We’ve stayed in luxury many times and this is not it. The apt itself has a nice view. 3 & 1/2 baths. The beds were comfortable. It wasn’t dirty per se. So here’s the cons : which we told the host about. They don’t want toilet tissue in the toilet but a garbage can was missing in the half bathroom. A missing hand towel in the half bathroom. A missing soap dispenser in the hallway bathroom. There was a heavy chemical toxic smell in the third bedroom which took over 30 hours to lighten by opening the window and spraying . As well as air conditioning the room. Fortunately our sister didn’t arrive yet. They said that the shower had to be fixed and they used chemicals prior to us checking in. The kitchen had grease film on the stove hood. The kitchen soap had a nasty used old sponge to clean dishes. And the soap had food residue. The third bedrooms blanket had a stain. We told the host of these things right away. They sent someone over. She gave us a new kitchen sponge. Said Nothing can be done about the missing items and stain. She left. Unacceptable. Someone could have gone to Walmart to buy them. As the hours passed, we realized there were more issues. The couch had a huge old stain on the corner. The shower head in the hallway was corroded so badly that the water was coming out through the seam. In the master bedroom, we had no hot water or even warm water in the shower. But there was hot water every where else. They refused to do anything about that and said “that’s the way it is”. But first accused us of not turning the knob to the left. Or waiting 3 minutes. Insane !! The bed comforter had a tear in the corner. The clothes washer held mildew water in the drum. The room stinks to high heaven like mildew. I left the window open there. The hosts were responsive but all they did was apologize and said “we will advise the team”. That doesn’t help us at all. We finally contacted Airbnb. We came down 3 nights for a family wedding. And this put such a damper on the wedding for us. Even during the wedding ceremony , Airbnb was contacting us saying the host said the sponge and hot water was resolved. I replied the sponge yes. The hot water no. They said we were due 30% back for each day , 3 days of this. We said , please just do what you need to do to close this out. We are at a wedding and don’t want this looming over our heads. So they did. We did not contact the host for any compensation. All we wanted was to tell them of the things that were wrong and missing. At first we thought they were unaware. Especially because they assured us “we’re here for you”. But that was not the case. They own 50 plus properties. And it’s apparent to us they were fully aware of the issues. Especially since I read some reviews which had similar complaints. In the USA we have a name for such people - “SLUM LORDS”. They want the money but don’t care if you get what you pay for or what was described. It is written in our Airbnb bio - we expect honesty from the host. We don’t ask for more than what we should have. A clean place, not sub standard. Therefore, we can not recommend apt 701…. If they fix such things …. It would be great. Until then …...

You see this is the first time for my family visiting my beautiful country and so disappointed for them for what they went through! The place has a great city and volcano view and security personnel were fantastic! We stayed from 7/25 through 8/08 Other than that, Do not stay in 507! or facing the volcano, unless they have soundproofed windows! We found bed bugs in one room, and stained mattresses ( two of them ) , it took 3 days for them to have someone there to clean it! and extremely loud as there's a construction site right in front of it and they start as early as 7 am! The unit needs an extreme deep deep cleaning and some repairs on shower heads and some paint in certain areas.... Very pricey for what you get and you would think after all the headaches, they would at least offer you some sort of refund, but nothing! The host and 3 co host stayed quite!
