This is one of my top three highlights in the Faroes. It’s hard to find the start. We made the mistake of driving of driving all the way to the end as Google map directed. The road condition past the gate (the one you have to open and close behind you) was horrendous, worst I have ever driven. It’s only a mile long so save your rental car and walk on the road. At the last curve before the road turns away from the ocean again, look up the hillside to your right to spot the white posts that support a metal cable guide rail. Head up to here and follow the cable around the cleft in the cliff all the way to the end. Make sure to keep the cable to your RIGHT side. You will come to the precarious wooden bridge shortly.

Apart from the breathtaking cliffs, there is a fantastic view over the southern shores of northern Faroe Islands. You can get there via a tourist track from Hvalba, which I highly recommend. Then you can get down the valley to the road to Sandvik.

Geweldige ervaring!

Good viewpoint but the main attraction is the bridge over the 100m deep gorge. Better views of Ásmundarstakkur can be had from below on the road. The path is hard to follow once the road dies out, but you can follow the metal guide wires that prevent you from accidentally walking...
