Shark dove in July. Great experience! You really get your moneys worth with this experience, 2 full dives that are filled with sharks! There were around 40 bull (and lemon) sharks, tried to count & couldn't even do it. Also had a couple nurse sharks and lots of fish around too, including a giant grouper that was as big as some of the sharks! The 1st dive feeds all the big sharks with tuna heads at 30 meters which is really impressive, then you move up to 15 meters where smaller sharks are fed by one of the guide's hands (they wear chain meal to protect themselves), before the 5 meter safety stop where they fed loads of black-tipped reef sharks by hand again. The other guides are watching you the whole time & protecting you with sheep-hearder sticks to nudge sharks away from you. Lunch during the dive break was great and they answer all of your questions about sharks & the shark research they do at this time. 2nd dive has you lay down and they feed the big sharks again but do it closer to you so the sharks' fins come super close, sometimes only 1 foot away or even touching you. This safety stop you wait on a line while watching the sharks swim away. The guides cared lots about safety and helped divers who weren't as experienced to make sure they got to the safe positions or went up when their air was low (they give you lots of air to ensure you don't have to go up early unless you really suck up air). Equipment looked great. They've got a gift shop with shirts & sweaters & shark tooth necklaces made from teeth that guides have found from the dive site where sharks are fed. You can pay everything by card. I stayed at Yatu Lau Resort so that I was super close, but Beqa Adventure Divers asked if I wanted a complimentary pick-up so you don't need to stay close to the dive shop at all (I'd recommend not staying at Yatu Lau unless you are driving yourself or getting a taxi right to the resort because this area is a residential area so its a long walk with no streetlights from the main road...
ย ย ย Read moreI did three consecutive days of diving with Beqa Adventure Divers, and wow! I travelled to Fiji specifically for the shark diving experience, and I chose this company based on a strong recommendation from a friend who had dived with multiple operatorsโyet couldnโt recommend Beqa Adventure Divers more highly. It absolutely exceeded my expectations, and Iโm incredibly grateful that I chose them to help me tick off this dream experience. A major priority for me was ensuring that the dive was conducted as ethically and responsibly as possible, with a strong commitment to shark conservation and protection. Thatโs exactly what this company delivers. With the Fiji Shark Lab on-site, as well as dedicated researchers, scientists, and an exceptional team of highly skilled and professional dive masters, they maintain an incredible level of vigilance and expertise underwaterโmaking the entire experience both safe and unforgettable. Their contributions to marine conservation is inspiring, from the establishment of the marine park to the ongoing practice of contributing a portion of your dive fee back to the traditional owners of the reef. If you're looking for an ethical, professional, and truly unforgettable shark or coral diving experience, this is the company to do it with. I canโt wait to come backโthank...
ย ย ย Read moreI first did the shark dive with BAD about 8 years ago, and have been bragging about it to my friends ever since. I was stoked to have the opportunity to go again this weekend, and it was just as amazing as (even better than?) I remembered, so Iโm glad that my bragging will be able to continue. There was lots of laughter on the boat and all of the divemasters were very friendly & knowledgeable about the sharks and other fish on the reef. The shark dive itself felt super safe and was incredible. We saw probably about 10 or so bulls, a few lemons and a whole lot of reef sharks. The bulls are natural entertainers and love dodging at the last moment to snag a good tuna head. Youโre a safe distance away but still nice and close to the action - though the divemasters will be sitting behind you with long metal poles to nudge any sharks that are a little too curious away. The soft coral/wreck dive is perhaps a little less exciting but still fantastic - healthy reefs full of beautiful corals & a big variety of fish (clownfish, groupers, parrot fish, angel fish, triggerfish, lion fishโฆ lots to look at!). Vinaka vakalevu BAD, I will...
