Unique Reindeer Farm – A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience!

Our visit to Unique Reindeer Farm was, without a doubt, the highlight of our trip to Lapland! Every moment spent there was magical, from feeding the reindeer to enjoying a cozy meal by the fire. This experience exceeded all our expectations and was worth every penny – and even more!

From the very beginning, we felt warmly welcomed. Pekka, the owner of the farm, personally picked us up from our Airbnb and took us to the farm, which made the whole experience feel even more exclusive and private. Since it was just the two of us on the tour, we had the opportunity to enjoy a very personal encounter with the reindeer and the stunning Arctic landscape.

The interaction with the reindeer was truly unforgettable. We started by feeding them their favorite treat – lichen – straight from our hands, which allowed us to get really close to these beautiful animals. Then, we hopped onto a sled pulled by a snowmobile and helped feed them silage hay and a nutritious feed mix in the snowy fields. Watching the reindeer eagerly gather around was an incredible sight!

After the feeding, we warmed up with a delicious hot juice, which was perfect for the chilly weather. Then, it was time for another thrilling adventure – snowmobiling through the breathtaking Lappish wilderness! The snowy trails, the crisp air, and the peaceful silence of nature made this ride absolutely exhilarating.

When we returned to the farm, a hearty meal awaited us. We indulged in a rich and flavorful reindeer stew, while a vegan soup was also available for those with dietary preferences. To top it all off, we enjoyed cinnamon buns for dessert – the perfect ending to an already perfect day.

Everything about this experience was top-notch – the hospitality, the stunning location, the activities, and the delicious food. The fact that it was such a private tour made it even more special, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of Lapland and its traditions. Pekka and his family put their hearts into what they do, and it truly shows.

If you’re visiting Lapland, Unique Reindeer Farm is an absolute must-do! Whether you’re an animal lover, an adventure seeker, or simply looking for an authentic Arctic experience, this place has it all. We would rate it 12/10 and would return in...

Visiting the unique reindeer farm was an unforgettable highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in a world of authentic Arctic charm and hospitality. The farm was nestled in a picturesque snowy landscape, straight out of a winter wonderland.

The owner Pekka was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. Pekka was very kind, considerate, and friendly and I felt like his main goal and priority was to make sure we were enjoying our time at the farm with him and that we were comfortable, happy, and warm. He provided us with extra clothing and protective gear and also picked us up to take us to the farm and dropped us back to our Accommodation afterward which was a reasonable drive away, for this we were grateful.

We fed herds of reindeer, saw how well they are treated, loved, and cared for, and how much forest space they have to free roam. These animals are very respected and cared for. After we got to have a good ride around on some snowmobiles which was very fun.

To top it all off, we were treated to a delicious Finnish lunch by the roaring fire, sipping on hot berry juice, and coffee and Pekka cooked us some snacks on the fire which added a perfect touch to the day. All of the food was from the farm or a local friend or neighbor and it was delicious!

This reindeer farm is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Finland. Whether you’re seeking family-friendly activities, cultural immersion, or simply a tranquil escape into nature, this experience delivers. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with nature and culture in a deeply memorable way.

I’d give it more than five stars if I could—highly...

We are a family of three with a 7 year old daughter and we spent the day at Pekka's farm with him and his family. It was an amazing and authentic (not touristic at all) experience that will be for sure the highlight of our trip to Rovaniemi (and we have done lots of cool activities!). Even though it was just the three of us, we had the tour anyway and it was awesome, because we had a private tour just for ourselves, and we could interact a lot with the reindeers and with Pekka and his nice family. They explained to us a lot of things about reindeer farming. We first helped them herding and feeding the reindeers, and then we enjoyed the snow with some sleds they have in there. After that we had a very tasty hot beverage to recover from the cold temperature, and then we went down to the frozen lake, where we could drive snowmobiles ourselves throughout the whole lake. We finished the day enjoying a delicious lunch that Pekka's wife prepared for us (rhye bread with dry reindeer sausage and cheese, reindeer stew and salmon soup). After playing again with the snow, Pekka drove us back to Rovaniemi, and we finished the day with a big smile on our face! I really recommend this tour instead of the more touristic ones that hava the reindeers pull a sled with the visitors. Pekka and his family live on their farm, and they treat the reindeers carefully and with respect....

We had a great time at Pekka's farm! So lucky to have visited during a slow time and we had a private and personal time with the reindeer! Had lots of fun feeding lichen, hay, & nutrient pellets, and just hanging around them, learned lots too - their habitats & lives; their importance to Finland! Also learned lots of interesting things about the Finland history & culture - like where the WWII mines were and the forest where the army was trained (!), and about the Santa Claus tradition which we could NOT find with any description at SCV 🙄, and how the Sami lived with the reindeer. We also both drove the snowmobiles and went on the snowmobile sleigh too, not just for the fun and thrill, but for a purpoe - tagging along Pekka when he tended the reindeer. And we awent on toboggans like kids! Got served hot juice in between, and had a cozy traditional reindeer lunch stew besides a fire. We were very well taken care of from pick up to drop off, and in between (e.g. warmly dressed with clean snowsuits + mittens + socks + boots + balaclava - it was -17C; being constantly checked on to see if we were fine while snowmobiling). Every moment at the farm Pekka treated us like good friends, not ‘customers’ - a super experience not to be missed!
