Don’t make the same mistake we did! Google Maps shows beautiful photos of nature areas and the area is marked all in green with a lake and historic mine. This isn’t accurate at all.
Most of the area is a rubble-filled major suburban construction site of a new high-rise residential area. It might be possible to reach the nature areas on the islands and peninsulas to the south-east but certainly not without bikes, if not a car. The few natural areas left within walking distance are sandwiched between modern suburban housing complexes and largely fenced off anyway, with what few accessible paths there are serving resident runners and dog-walkers but clearly not tourists.

For an incomparably better and more accessible nature experience close to the city, head to Seurasaari. For a (public) ferry ride, stick to Suomenlinna.
PS no offence intended to the residents of Kruunuvuorenranta/Stansvik! I’m sure the area will be great to live in once it’s completed and greened back up, but it’s obviously very much not finished yet and holds no...

The story that I read about the place on Wikipedia is interesting, but it's clear that I'm few years too late. There are only few rocks reminding that there used to be some house there and there at the peninsula. If you want to walk though some forest just because, fee free. But nothing too exciting awaits you there. Plus it's serious pain, if not nearly impossible, to find a parking place anywhere close by to get on a hiking trail to get to the places where the villas...
