Joesta käytetään varsinkin kaupungin alueella myös nimeä Salonjoki. Väriltään erittäin ruskeaa on joessa virtaava vesi. Kalaa kuitenkin on, esimerkiksi keväisin kuoretta. Tuolloin on niillä alueilla riippusillan tuntumassa olevilla pienillä koskilla runsaasti äänekkäitä lokkeja. Sorsalintuja talvehtii myös riippusillan kupeessa. Keväisin mahdollisesti tapahtuva jäidenlähtö on kaupunkilaisia kovasti kiinnostava luonnonilmiö - tuolloin rannoille saattaa nousta valtaviakin lohkareita ja joen pinta saattaa peittää rannassa olevat pyörätiet. Jokea nähtävyytenä Salo voisi hyödyntää vielä nykyistä paremmin, mutta ymmärrän toki heikon...
