Destination Lapland — Local services in Tunturi-Lapin seutukunta

My friends and I spent the most incredible week in Äkäslompolo thanks to the amazing Destination Lapland team. We did it all - ice fishing, snowmobile safari, reindeer visit, dog sledding - and each tour was on time, well organized, and so much fun.

Everyone working there, from the guides to the reception to those who helped us sort accommodation, was responsive, helpful, and friendly (and we were a group of 14, so not the easiest to manage!).

Man muss definitiv zwischen dem eigentlichen Büro und der angegliederten Ausleihe unterscheiden. Über das Büro können wir nur Positives sagen, aber die Ausleihe ist das komplette Gegenteil. Die "Service"kraft ist vollumfänglich damit beschäftigt, laut Hardrock zu hören. Sie empfindet jede Störung durch Gäste als eine komplette Zumutung und lässt das einen auch sehr deutlich spüren. Die in unserem Reisepreis (bei Nordic) inkludierten Skier waren in einem erbärmlichen Zustand (ungewachst, das Dekor hob sich bereits von der Lauffläche). Unsere Bitte nach einem Umtausch wurde damit gekontert, dass man zwar bessere Skier hätte (man zeigte uns auch gleich zwei Paar davon), diese aber nicht unserer Preisklasse entsprächen. Wenn uns das nicht passen würde, gäbe es ja im Ort einige Ausleihen, in denen man auf eigene Kosten selbst tätig werden könnte (ab 35€/Tag). Unsere Bitte nach etwas Wachs: "Kauft euch welchen im Sportshop". Ebenfalls nicht alltäglich dürften die Öffnungszeiten der Ausleihe sein. Wenn diese von Dienstag Mittag bis Donnerstag Mittag geschlossen ist, nimmt die Agentur viel von der angepriesenen Flexibilität ihrer Gäste. Dass zudem am mutmaßlichen Hauptabgabetag (Freiag, da Samstag oft Abreise) die Ausleihe bereits Punkt 17:00Uhr schließt fällt ebenfalls nicht in die Rubrik Kundenfreundlichkeit. Das sind wir aus allen anderen Urlaubsregionen (Sommer und Winter)...

What can I say.. I've been on many holidays.. But never saw so many guides that are so enthusiastic about their jobs. They must have a great selection process. I loved my holiday which I booked with Tui. Great collaboration with Destination Lapland they have. All my excursion were perfect. Will be back next January for sure. Thanks for a great cabin and great excursions.....
