Domaine de Valdition — Local services in Arles

I had been to the restaurant across the road for lunch, L'Opale restaurant (fantastic restaurant, lovely people, especially the Flemish/Belgian who worked there). My wife and I had a bottle of the 2016 L'Oratoire White. Fantastic wine with a fantastic meal. We headed across the road to the winery to buy some bottles and to taste the L'Oratoire Rose and Rouge.

The winery looks fantastic. Very nice tasting area. Only problem was the young lady doing the tasting. We speak French as we've lived in France for 15 years but our level of french wasn't to her standard. Not a problem, I love when young French people take the initiative to speak in English. She went through the wine tasting in a Robot style. Didn't give us any history about the winery. Basically, no personality at all.

Ok, I know it must get painful to have tourists visiting and having to go through the same story blah blah blah but the young lady left the side down...

So the two stars rating is on the wine tasting experience. We bought a case of the 2016 White and a case of the 2016 Rose. The red wasn't to my taste.

So, hopefully the people who run the establishment can take note. People want to taste your wine, if the people who are employed FRONT HOUSE to represent your product are not interested, then think about giving the position to...

Habitant Eguilles, nous allons de temps à autre déjeuner vers Saint-Remy, et en profitons pour passer au domaine. L’accueil toujours sympa jusqu'à maintenant, nous a pour le moins surpris ce jour. Ayant acheté quelques bouteilles (13 pour être précis), la personne qui nous servait nous à d'abord demander si c'était nous qui recevions à Noël, car ce vin se buvait vite. Cela probablement pour nous inciter à en prendre plus. C'est bien essayé mais très maladroit et limite, surtout quand cela est fait sans aucun sourire... Une fois passer en caisse, j'ai demandé s'il ne leur restait pas un ou deux disques verseurs (que les cavistes offre souvent au clients). La réponse a été pour le moins surprenante ; Je cite : "Non, on en a pas, mais en plus on les vends pas"; et cela toujours sans le moindre sourire. J'ai fait comprendre à cette dame qu'il ne s'agissait pas de les acheter mais qu'on parlait d'un petit geste, que nous avons toujours eu à Valdition sans rien demander... J'ai donné de quoi payer à mon épouse et suis sorti à l'extérieur, voir mon chien qui attendait dans ma voiture, et qui lui est de bonne composition. La vente, c'est un métier, manifestement cette personne n'en a pas...

Vin dégusté au restaurant nous conduit à venir à la propriété acheter quelques bouteilles. Accueillis tres agréablement par un jeune homme sommelier, très pro, prenant le temps de nous expliquer les différents cépages , complété par une dégustation. Celle ci a été brutalement interrompue par une dame demandant au jeune homme d aller s occuper d autres clients, cela sans excuse pour nous. Le sommelier a exécuté ce qui lui a eté demandé et est revenu vers nous, assez gêné. Cette dame nous a traité assez grossièrement pensant certainement que nous venions faire perdre son temps à son charmant employé.. Nous avons quand même acheté 14 bouteilles dont un magnum ayant apprécié le vin goûté. Sommelier au Top, une dame...tres incorrecte...dommage.
