Gold Beach Company - Normandy & D'Day Tours — Local services in Bayeux

We booked online and I was a little worried I’d been scammed, since I couldn’t find concrete info on these guys and I didn’t get a confirmation after the initial booking that the tour would go ahead with enough numbers, but our experience was ultimately excellent.

We caught the train to Bayeaux from Caen and then walked into the city centre - less than ten minutes. The meeting spot for the tour is in a carpark, next to a public toilet (one of the only ones in Bayeaux!) Look for a sign with the names of lots of tour companies and you’ll be in the right spot.

We were there in early January, and it was just the two of us on the tour, but I was delighted they ran it for us anyway.

We went to three spots on our half day Normandy D Day tour, including Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery.

Our young University student tour guide was excellent! He was warm, helpful, informative and balanced being involved with us and giving us space to explore beautifully. He even dropped us to the train station at the end of the day.

I was so humbled.You realize the immense cost of war setting eyes on these sites. I felt the hallowed ground there and the measure of so many lives lost. It's so moving. There's a hush there that is remarkable and spiritual. No pictures I took could match the solemnty of this holy ground. Please visit and do it with Gold Beach company.
