We had a wonderful stay at Camping Les 12 Cols. We stayed 7 nights and enjoyed every one of them. The campsite is beautiful, it’s small and well groomed with beautiful landscaping. The sanitary areas were super, I’ve never been to a campsite where it was so clean. We only used the one by the front office, but it had plenty of hot water in both showers. We liked that there was an extra stall with a sink, plus two toilets. There was also a separate area with plenty of sinks for dishes and we were able to wash and dry some laundry which was very handy (again, all very clean). ||The service was excellent. We can’t say enough positive things about Gaëlle and her husband who had many tips for us for day trips, hikes, etc. We ordered fresh bread every day which was great quality, croissants, pain du chocolat and baguettes. We have to also say that the coffee here was better than anywhere else in France so far (they know how to make a cappuccino here!). Really cold Coca-Cola and Perrier also saved us a few 35 degree afternoons. ||We had a beautiful pitch with a great view of the sunsets. It was very warm and we didn’t have a lot of shade but we made full use of the terrace and pool and really enjoyed reading in the shade and laying in the sun. Many kids playing in the pool, but not annoying or too busy. At 1,5m deep everyone could enjoy. ||As for the town itself, not much to do but the campsite did arrange a few extra activities for campers. They offered canyoning, laser biathlon, and even walking with goats each evening. Many other campers had their bikes but we stuck with hiking and took a train to Lyon. ||Food wise, there was a big Market Hauteville Lompnes nearby (the 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive) so we always had fresh food (they’re closed on Sunday!). We also ate at a local restaurant which was delicious, at Bistrot de la Fontaine the pizzas looked great but we chose a burger (camping we eat mostly vegetarian so some proper meat was needed and worth it). ||We highly recommend Camping Les 12 Cols. We were a couple but we saw many families and spoke with with multiple other campers who were very much enjoying everything this beautiful campsite had to offer. Worth every euro, we were sad to leave. We will definitely try to come back...

Read moreThe location is a comfortable walking distance from the town along a charming small road with sports fields opposite. We were greeted with our NZ flag flying alongside other nationalities over the front entrance. The landscaping of the grounds is meticulous and effective in creating privacy, and nice just to stroll around admiring them. Our cabin was basic but adequate with a nice outside patio with umbrella, table and chairs. All clean. The pool is beautifully maintained and a luxury to swim in. Our 3 nights there was a relaxing end to our Mtn bike trip on the GTJ. The proprietors were very friendly and welcoming and always helpful. Thanks a lot, and I'd love to return for another holiday and more biking, and conquer...
