For those arriving by car, parking is available at the paid «Parking du Brévent», where an 8-hour stay costs EUR 10.- as of August 2024. From there, your adventure begins with a cable car ride to Planpraz. I recommend continuing on to Le Brévent for the full experience. A one-way ticket to «Le Brévent» costs EUR 26.-.

Planpraz: The first stop, is a must-see. From here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi, and other nearby summits. It’s a perfect spot for photography or simply taking in the grandeur of the Alps.

From Planpraz, hop on the cable car to Le Brévent, where you’ll be rewarded with one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Mont Blanc. The scenery from this vantage point is unparalleled, making it a highlight of any trip to the region.

If you have time, consider dining at the restaurant "Le Panoramic" at the top. The food is good, and the views from the restaurant are just as impressive. However, it’s advisable to book in advance, as it’s a popular spot.

For those who enjoy hiking, there’s the option to descend on foot from Le Brévent to Planpraz. The hike takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, offering more incredible views along the way. Once back at Planpraz, you have several options to return to Chamonix (Parking Le Brévent):

Take the cable car: back down for a quick and easy return. Walk the short path back: which is a bit challenging and takes around 2 hours. Opt for the longer walk, which takes about 3 hours but is less difficult than the shorter path.

Brevent is a great area to ski if the snow is good. It gets the early sun on the darkest winter days, and has some great off-piste short runs that are easy to access and you can do multiple times in a morning. It also has a classic couloir that you can ski all the way down into town if the snow is good. You might even get buzzed by many of the wingsuit pilots who launch off the top. The two stars missing are for the food and the lack of a "singles" line. Like all the resorts in Chamonix the management doesn't care about the skiing experience and has no qualms about sending up quad or six person chairs with two or three people when there is a 30 minute line. Why the Compagnie du Mt Blanc can't institute a singles line to fill up the chairs, speed up the queues and give people more runs I don't know. Une vue magnifique, un site très bien entretenu et offrant de quoi se rafraîchir. Toutefois, je souhaite partager notre expérience des plus fâcheuses concernant la randonnée du lac du brévent, afin de prévenir les propriétaires de chiens. Nous avions entamé la descente depuis un petit quart d'heure avec notre petit chien, attaché et nous nous sommes vu arrêté par la police de la réserve pour motif d'animaux interdits dans la réserve. (Il verbalisation déjà une autre personne lors de notre interpellation) Nous sommes très respectueux de la nature et habitués des randonnées et nous avons donc été très surpris de la réaction de ce monsieur, qui nous a directement réclamé 68euros ! (Nous avons payé ce même prix pour monter en télécabine à 2 personnes!) Aucune prévention ni compréhension, un discours fermé et soit disant de grands panneaux d'interdiction au sommet de la télécabine..... Nous avons donc fais demi tour et sommes retourné à l'arrivée de la télécabine et sans grande surprise, les panneaux soit disant nombreux sont en fait réduits et minimes (nous en avons compté 3) bien cachés et surtout ne sont pas visibles en fonction du choix de descente du parcours ! Une honte de se voir réclamer un telle somme alors que ce monsieur aurait pu se mettre à l'entrée de la réserve afin de prévenir les propriétaires d'animaux. Mais non, son comportement répond parfaitement à la renommée de la station de Chamonix "pompe à fric " station soit disant classe ? Une bien pâle copie de ses consœurs bien plus commerçantes et courtoises ! Et dernière chose qui nous irrite au plus haut point : arrêtez de prendre un ton méprisable pensant avoir affaire à des touristes car nous sommes des locaux qui se feront un plaisir de partager cette expériences des plus décevantes et grotesque ! Bref ce qu'il faut retenir c'est que les animaux sont admis pour monter, admirer la vue et redescendre. Vous ne pourrez rien faire d'autre, autrement dit, un prix honteux pour le peut d'activité offerte avec...
