L'OCCITANE EN PROVENCE (Boutique, Jardin Méditerranéen, Visite Manufacture) — Local services in Forcalquier

As a fan and loyal customer of L'occitane, I felt disappointed after visiting the factory and the store. It was very difficult to find this place. We booked for a tour to visit the factory and we were late because we followed the address given on their website but we couldn't find the place. Both Google Map and the built in GPS on the rental car leaded us to a L'occitane store in a nearby village. We got a call from the factory and asking if we were coming. We told her yes and asked if she could direct us to the factory because we couldn't find it. The staff couldn't speak much English so she passed the phone to the English speaking tour guide but she couldn't tell us or describe to us how to get there. So since the GPS leaded us to a L'occitane store, we asked the staff in the store how to get to the factory. The staff said there is no address for the factory and just told us to drive back to the tolled highway and looked for sign. We kept checking the signs on the road (there are many roundabouts and each roundabout exit has at least 5 signs). Before we almost ran back to the entrance of the toll highway , we saw the L'occitane sign and we ended up arrived there. We missed half of the tour. We suggested to the staff that they should provide the GPS coordinates of the factory on the website to guide visitors to the exact location instead of wondering around in the middle of nowhere. The 10% off on all products doesn't help much unless you spend over $175 and get some tax refund, otherwise the price is not much of a difference than buying the same...

My wife and her sister love L’Occitane products so, while we were in France in the general area of Manosque I booked a one-hour tour in English for all three of us. We arrived a little early so the ladies spent some time looking at all the products in the factory store and comparing the prices with their home store in Tampa, USA and Cali, Colombia. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the tour of the factory. The L’Occitane employee leading our group did her best to make the tour interesting but all we saw were production lines, clean rooms, drums and large plastic containers of raw materials and boxes of products waiting to be shipped. Nothing different from any pharmaceutical manufacturing company. It didn’t diminish our views of the products, perhaps we expected to see fields of lavender being converted to gorgeous smelling skin care products and what we got was a clean very efficient factory. L' Occitane de Provence ist eine weltweit bekannte Kosmetikmarke. In jeder größeren Stadt findet man mindestens eine Filiale. Die Düfte sind das Hauptgeschäft. Vor allen Dingen das Design der Produkte ist attraktiv gestaltet und hebt sich von anderen Marken ab. Sehr bekannt sind die Handcremes, die in Metalltuben verkauft werden. Diese Tuben sind wie die Farbtuben von Künstlern gestaltet und sollen genau das darstellen. Die Frau des Herstellers war leidenschaftliche Malerin und so ist dieses Produkt eine Homage an sie. Es gibt noch weitere Produkte die einen ähnlichen Hintergrund haben. Die Fabrik und der Werksverkauf, die Boutique liegen im Industriegebiet der provonzalischen Stadt Manosque, nahe der wundervollen berühmten Lavendelfelder der Region. Die Fabrik kann mit Führung besichtigt werden (6 €/ Person ab 16 Jahre, darunter kostenlos), wobei die Einblicke eher sehr oberflächlich sind, trotzdem ganz nett anzuschauen. Die Führungen gibt es in auch in verschiedenen Sprachen. Wenn man eine bestimmte Sprache bei der Führung haben möchte, sollte man sich im voraus kümmern und die Führung buchen. Die Boutique ist im Grunde das Highlight. Hier findet man viele Produkte, Produktlinien, alte und neue Artikel und viele Geschenksets. Es soll hier alles 10% günstiger sein als in den Geschäften. Leider ist selbst der reduzierte Preis sowie die Sonderangebote einzelner Artikel immer noch ein hoher Preis. Hier muss jeder für sich selbst entscheiden, wieviel ihm/ ihr Parfum und Kosmetik wert ist. Die Auswahl ist enorm und für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und man findet stets jemanden, der einem mit Rat zur Seite steht. Die Präsentation der Produkte ist sehr attraktiv und verführerisch. Ein Credo der Firma L'Occitane ist der Umweltschutz. Weltweit kann man in jeder Filiale mit einem eigenen Seifenspender oder einer Shampooflasche o.ä. Behältnis (solange es für Kosmetik ausgelegt ist) in eine der Filialen gehen und sich dieses Behältnis mit Douchgel o.ä. auffüllen lassen. Angeblich bekommt man dann 10% Rabatt auf diese Befüllung. Dies soll dem Plastikmüll entgegensteuern, eine vernünftige Initiative. Das Aussengelände der Boutique ist als Wandelgarten gestaltet, in dem alle Pflanzen zu finden sind, die für die Herstellung der Essenzen von L' Occitane von Bedeutung sind.
