Château de Dohem — Local services in Saint-Omer

Chateau de Dohem is beautiful and perfect for a large group or family celebration. The chateau has everything you need to make for a perfect stay. I have never before seen so many sets of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, glasses etc. there is even an abundance of fridges, with a large American one in the kitchen, a triple in the pantry and another triple in the outside bar. Wendy and Marcus have thought of everything. There is a gas bbq, a charcoal bbq, a gas paella cooker, not to mention the fire pit. The bedrooms are well furnished with very comfortable beds which I find to be a rarity on holiday. The grandchildren and adults had a great week celebrating a big birthday and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Wendy was quick to respond even when it was our fault we couldn’t light the bbq! If I was being ultra picky the bits that let it down were the decking which is coming to the end of its useful life in some areas, the pool which although beautiful and warm, was in need of a clean and had slippery steps and sharp edges round the edge (with lots of lose slabs where the cover rolls back) and the hot tub water which was grey and probably should have been emptied, cleaned and refilled before we arrived. We booked the Chateau back in 2020 to visit in the May Half Term of 2021 to celebrate our 60th birthdays with all our family. Covid delayed our visit until August 2022. Wendy was fantastic and extremely accommodating in finding us an alternative date. We also used Wendy's local knowledge to book a bouncy castle and also a local chef to visit one evening to cook us all a meal. The bouncy castle was good and the food by the chef and the service she provided was fantastic. The Chateau is a beautiful building and had all you could want to enjoy your break form comfortable beds to good en-suites and a well stocked kitchen pantry and bar. The swimming pool was perfect but the hot tub had broken down but Wendy bought and installed a high end lazy spa for our break going beyond to make sure we had all that was promised. I’m finding it difficult to put into words just how epic our weekend was.

Having come out of a horrendous 2 years for all, the excitement levels from our group of over worked and stressed out women was at fever pitch, to say that you exceeded our expectations is an understatement.

It was definitely a weekend of recaptured youth and with that a lot of alcohol was consumed, I hope we didn’t embarrass ourselves too much 🥴

The gracious way in how you hosted, always remaining welcoming, polite and reassuring did not go unnoticed (especially when your patience was probably rigorously tested!)
