Préhisto Parc — Local services in Sarlat-la-Canéda

Pretty bad experience. Especially since we got sold tickets for an extra (children's) workshop which turned out to by 100% in French. Despite the guide having a badge with both a UK and French flag indicating she would also speak English. It didn't take long for my kids (7 and 8 y/o) to feel completely ignored by the guide who also physically turned away from them to solely address the French audience. It was rude to say the least - something that even the rest of the audience agreed with who insisted in French and in English (!) the guide switch to English at least occasionally to accommodate for all of us.

We tried to get a refund - to no avail. 'We don't do refunds, we expect your kids to speak French."

The site looks nice at first site - but there are much better parks or museums around for your money in the...

Parc agréable. L'environnement est très joli. Se retrouver dans cette nature est plaisant. Les statues sont plus réalistes que dans certains préhisto parcs cependant un petit coup de restauration ne ferai pas de mal à certaines. Les bandes sonores rajoutent un petit plus.

Pour les informations, nous sommes des adultes et nous avons appris certaines choses. Les explications sont peut être un peu courtes et simplistes mais cela n'empêche pas d'en apprendre un petit peu plus. Le jour où nous y sommes allés il n'y avait pas d'animation ou nous les avons raté (à se renseigner).

Notre visite s'est effectuée sous la pluie (météo très instable) et nous avons quand même bien aimé. Il n'y avait pratiquement personne, les arbres nous abritaient et nous nous sommes amusés comme des enfants.

La boutique reste chère. J'acheté ce petit mammouth pour 6,90€. Les autres peluches varient entre 10 et 25€. Il y a également des livres sur la préhistoire, des crayons, carnets, porte clefs, figurines, DVD du site, couteaux, outils préhistoriques "copiés"...

Le seul petit bémol est que l'entrée est un petit peu chère pour la balade qui dûre 1h ou un peu moins. Les paysages que nous avons vu sur la route ont un peu...

Fairly small as parks go but we'll worth a visit. The information boards are multi lingual (French, German, English & (I think) Dutch. Staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. There are picnic areas and the whole park is situated in woodland. A lot of thought has been put into the design...
