My trip to Georgia was a spur of the moment decision and also limited to one week. I knew I really wanted to hike and I also knew I didn’t have the time to plan, organise, and execute my ideal itinerary in the short time I had to prepare. Every company I enquired with offered suitable tours however on days that didn’t suit me, this is when I discovered Camp Caucasus. Camp Caucasus drafted a couple of itineraries that covered what I was interested in and I was able to fine tune them to suit me. I ended up on my own individualised 4 day Kazbegi Adventure tour. I absolutely LOVED my time in Kazbegi. I had four days of hiking in the region with accommodation in Stepantsminda and a night in the alpine Altihut. Aloft hotel in Stepantsminda deserve a shout out! Aloft Hotel prepared my meals each day for the hikes and also my breakfasts. The breakfasts here were the best I had during my time in Georgia- 5stars to the chef ✨. Georgia is currently my favourite destination in Europe and I hope that I’ll be back next year to do another hike but this time in advance to with the same company. I highly recommend Camp Caucasus!! The experience was seamless and the staff that look after you are organised, efficient, and most of all, beautiful people!! Thank You so much. I had the trip of a lifetime and I owe it to you guys!! Hopefully see you again next year! Thank You Nino, Thank You Ana…I loved every minute and couldn’t have pulled it off by myself. See you...
Read moreWe booked our tour since we were both busy at work etc and didn’t have any proper time to prepare. The communication with the company went well and they were helpful in answering some of my questions.
However, though the tour itself and the views were really spectacular, the tour is way too expensive (950 euros for 2 people (one room) for 1 shared app, 4 nights (nothing wrong with hotels though not all had WiFi), 4 dinners (which were good, though only water is included mostly, sometimes you could buy beer at 3,30 euros per beer), 4 breakfasts (again good), 3 lunch packages (differed significantly but mostly a tomato, small cucumber, 1 boiled egg and a piece of bread (sometimes with but sometimes also without any toppings) for a 22 km hike…
The routes are exactly the same as on Komoot and everyone we came across arranged it themselves (or even at the spot overnight stays were negotiated). Overall there was not much wrong with it, but all in all it would have cost us 200-300 euros all included to arrange it ourselves. That is quite a profit margin…. The horses that are included are only there to help you cross the river, which you also don’t exactly need honestly… the app works well but as said, next time I would just use Komoot… I’m sorry but to me the extra 650- 750 euros definitely isn’t worth it… I even feel a bit misled...
Read moreWe did the Peaks and Valleys of Sveneti self-guided walk in June and it was spectacular. The wildflowers were in full bloom against snow-topped mountains and brilliant blue skies. There was also some afternoon thunder and rain to complete our experience (we had been forewarned - but the lure of wildflowers and fewer crowds made it well worth it). The third day with the river crossing by horse and views of Adishi Glacier and surrounding mountains was a day to remember. Upside: the trails were well marked and varied, the accommodation was welcoming, villages and history are fascinating, food was good and plentiful, everything (including drivers) was very well organized. We felt well supported with good communications, and would absolutely recommend Camp Caucasus when planning a trek in Georgia. Downside: it was over all too soon! Bottom-line: Brilliant hike in a beautiful country - we're so glad we had the opportunity to experience it. Thank you...
