Jermuk is one of the largest health resorts in Armenia. Its mineral water geysers are located less than 200 km from Yerevan. The city is famous for its 44 therapeutic hot springs, which are naturally rich in minerals such as magnesium, sodium, iron and calcium. These waters have been used for healing purposes for several generations for the treatment of various diseases. The calling card of the resort is the drinking water gallery. The maximum temperature of hot springs is around 55°C. They are similar to the mineral waters of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic in terms of composition and healing properties. The highlight of our trip was the Jermuk Geyser. It is located 5km from the city and 2080m above sea level, in the territory of the reserve. You can get to the geyser either with a good SUV (the road is very steep, covered with large, sharp stones, you have to cross the river several times), or on foot. Evaluating the technical potential of our jeep, we left the car on a steep hillside and continued on foot. The walk took 40-60 minutes. The geyser itself is a natural bath with warm mineral water (pH - 7.5, water temperature from 30 -53°C, conductivity μS/cm 4340, carbon hydrosulfate-sodium water source), which comes out with a strong jet every 2 minutes. We had only +20°C and strong wind at the top of the mountain that day, so we took the opportunity to warm up in the geyser bath with great pleasure. When the sun began to set rapidly behind the tops of the rocks, we realized that we had to go back quickly, because it is not safe to walk along narrow paths in the mountains, in the dark of the evening. If you are planning a leisure trip for yourself and it includes a visit to a sanatorium in the city of Jermuk, then the minimum stay there...
Read moreCome early as possible. We came around 9.45 am and there was just one family but they also left quickly. So we were alone for about 45 minutes when we decided to leave. And then cars started to come.. So until 11 am no crowds.. The pool itself is nice, water is hot but you can enjoy for some time. In the river nearby we saw snakes so we did not enter to cool down. But around the pool we saw no snakes, just in the river. There is trash everywhere also, we saw people before us throwing trash from their car into the bush nearby. So, it is something different to do in Georgia, but you can skip it, especially because of the road to get there.. last 2 kilometers you need to drive 10 km/h.. there is cows and dogs along the road, and so many dogs on...
Read moreAwesome baths! It is located in the middle of a field. The road to it is rocky and sandy, bumpy too, yet easily driveable. Around the area, you may see some cows ( a lottt...) and some dogs, too. But they're friendly! The baths are hot! But so relaxing and calming. The views are spectacular too! I personally recommend going here around 7 pm! Around the baths, you will smell some eggs because it is a sulfur bath, but after youre done swimming, you wont smell like eggs so dont worry! The baths are naturally made by the nature. Some locals may come to bath too, but every single one of...
