" The Georgian desert ride amongst all the rides around the world I have done, has been by far the most surprising and adventurous as you would really never guess this truly majestic space and landscape so close to Europe and yet still kept like a secret.
It is very much a wild gem unknown to most.
It felt to me like traveling back in time and flying through the pages of a history book
The ride is a lot of fun as for me it has the perfect mix of adventure, long hours riding, quite a few long stretches at an exhilarating fast pace, culture, history and good fresh food to keep you going. There is so much to learn and see in this part of Georgia that it takes your breath away.
The horses are perfect, strong totally connected to the landscape sure footed and afraid of nothing. They are really good to ride especially if you are experienced and love some speed! The tack is extremely comfortable even if it doesn't look like it when you see it!! The camping gear is in perfect conditions and taken care of immediately in case something is not working properly.
Audrey is a wonderful guide, that really wants you to experience real adventure and the true face of Georgia, she is always ready to explain the customs and vary nuances of the various subcultures in Georgia together with being - as I called her -Â a truly accomplished "mountain goat" !! she can lead you to the Hidden monasteries climbs like a breeze.
You will be taken care of really well in this incredible adventure that will truly make you feel like Lara Croft or Indian...

We did a short version: 3 nights and 4 days staying in local homes or guest houses. If I were to do it again, I would opt for a longer experience of a week in a tent.
The horses were very well cared for, with great love. They never lost control, even though the Tusheti mountains are quite steep.
Itâs not a trip I would recommend to those who suffer from vertigo.
The guide was very competent; she was also the owner of the horses. She knows the region by heart and manages the horses perfectly.
The food is good, and even I, who cannot eat gluten or dairy, always found something to eat, but itâs important to inform the guide in advance.
The only negative thing: the road to get to Tusheti is dangerous and full of potholes. I would have preferred proper 4x4 vehicles with good suspension.

Read moreI just came back from 10 days Tbilisi-Tusheti with Caucasus Expeditions led by Audrey. With a group of 7 we had an unforgettable authentic time with the people from Tusheti and the horses. Audrey is a treasure of knowledge about the region, itâs people and their ways, and she also knows very well how to handle her horses on tricky terrain. I felt safe and challenged at all times, the trails were well chosen and balanced, the horses gentle and experienced. For this trip we stayed at local guesthouses where we were always well cared for with plenty of local fresh food and home brewed wines. Thank you for this life-time...
