Sulfur Bath — Local services in Samtskhe-Javakheti

A MUST for all visitors of Vardzia! Yes, I know it looks like a post apocalyptic slaughterhouse from the outside (ok, maybe inside as well) but put a brave face on and jump into the pool! The clean, hot turqouise water will make you forget about the external appearances.

We visited the pools after a 20 km hike and on the next day - no muscle cramps, no tiredness!

The old grandpa running the place is also really cool - we managed to set the time for a dip in half broken russian (mine). Tip - "pazautri v pjet chasov" is I guess "tomorrow...

As others have commented: in April 2018, a guy in a truck with a nice dog charged us 1.5 lari per person and pointed at his shack that is very simple but has a nice sulfur bath “pool”. Loved it! From the road it is hard to understand where it is and are at the right place. A small shed and inside is a warm pool with natural mineral hot water. The temperature is around 38° but the hose that provides fresh water is around 55°.

After a while we decided to cool down in the nearby Kura river.
