Petersberg — Local services in Königswinter

The location is ofcourse beautiful, and the Hotel has lots of rich history, for that I give them this one star. When we entered the Cafe, we were greeted with a man telling us that they were closing in 35 minutes, indirectly already making us uncomfortable and making us feel not welcome. As we were going to the counter to choose our cake, we were ignored by one of the staff for some time, it took 5 minutes before another staff member was willing to notice us and was able to help us.

When we received the bill, we were shocked to see that were paying 10$ for a very tiny tea pot which contained not even 2 tea cups worth of tea. In total we payed 32€ for a Latte, 2 slices of cake and a tea pot.

The cafe itself does not look very chique and almost looks like a railway station cafe…

The toilets were really dated, and not cleaned regularly. There weren’t any towels left for when I had to wash my hands. The smell in the toilets was also despicable.

I would not recommend anyone going to this cafe, it is not worth either the money or the trouble getting up...

Meine Frau und ich waren am 08.06.2019 Gäste einer Veranstaltung auf dem Petersberg in der Lichtkuppel. Unsere Erfahrungen waren leider nicht so positiv, wie wir es von einer solch bekannten Lokation erwartet hätten. Der Kuppelsaal war ein Eispalast! Die Damen, allesamt im Abendkleid, haben erbärmlich frieren müssen, da trotz vielfacher Beschwerden beim Service und auch an der Rezeption, niemand in der Lage war, die Klimaanlage zu justieren bzw. einfach auszuschalten. Das Essen, ein auf dem Papier sehr lecker erscheinendes 4-Gänge-Menu, war leider in Gänze nicht zu empfehlen. Die Vorspeise, ein Hirsch-Carpaccio, war geschmacksneutral, ein Pfifferling-Risotto mit Trüffelschaum, welches leider nur lauwarm serviert wurde, wäre ansonsten recht lecker gewesen. Das dann folgende Kalbsfilet mit Sellerie-Kartoffelpüree und undefinierbaren weiteren Beilagen war dieser Lokation nicht würdig und ebenfalls nur lauwarm. Das Dessert in Form einer Creme Brulee mit Waldfrüchten war, wer hätte es gedacht, ebenfalls eiskalt und ohne Geschmack. Wir sind sehr enttäuscht über die Kulinaristik eines solchen Hauses! Positiv zu bemerken ist natürlich die fantastische Lage und der ausnehmend gute Service. Die Damen und Herren waren stets präsent und aufmerksam. Deshalb geben wir immerhin noch...

I mean, the Petersberg has an amazing history and all of that, but they are renovating it right now and yeah, it's not as clean or good as it should be. The suits are nice and they serve decent food too and of course looking down on Bonn is amazing too, but I was more than a bit disappointed with the state of the hotel. Hopefully it'll live up to its name again after the renovation...
