Taubenstein — Local services in Schliersee

Amazing view from the top! Definitely worth it and beginner friendly! I do not recommend you to go to the mountain peak if you have a phobia of heights because you will be really standing on quite a narrow mountain peak. We needed almost two hours for the ascent and the hike was mostly easy, although we slipped a few times because the ground was a bit wet AKA muddy. I believe if it was completely dry this will not happen. You will be hiking in like an open field and not in the woods, this is another factor on why it is beginner friendly. We went there during a holiday so there were a lot of other people also hiking. The last part of the hike to get to the peak might be a bit confusing for beginners but it is still possible. You just have to hold on to the rope and pull yourself up.

I departed from Munich using BRB RB55 towards Bayrischzell and exited in Schliersee, this journey needed around 55 minutes. From here we took bus number 362 towards Spitzingsee Kirche, Schliersee and exited in Spitzingsee Taubensteinbahn, Schliersee, this journey needed around 15 minutes. The total journey time from Munich to the foot of the mountain is around an hour and fifteen minutes. From here you can start to hike.

Zum Taubenstein vom Spitzingsattel, oder Spitzingbahn Station rauf. Beides gleich schön. Allerdings ein wenig feucht. Immer wieder schöne Ausblicke ins Tal. Ab Berg Station ist es nur noch ein kurzes Stück bis zum Gipfel. Ein wenig kraxeln und schon ist man oben. Mal ist mal alleine und dann wieder mit 20 Menschen auf dem kleinen Gipfel. Wenn man Zeit hat, bleibt man ein wenig und schon ist man für sich. Runter geht’s dann über Maxlraineralm zum Spitzingsee und man hat eine schöne Rundtour gemacht. Alternativ kann man auch runterfahren, kam aber für uns nicht in Frage. Wir sind ja zum Bergwandern da. Einige Leute in Freizeitschuhe sind durch die Bahn natürlich auch oben. Ob sie unbedingt auf den Taubenstein steigen sollten, bleibt jeden selbst...
