Oh what an adventure!!! As to why I am now doing this? I can’t say but I am so glad I did. First things first, that climb is not a joke 🤯🤯 but when you set up your mind to get to the top, you will find a way. It may take some minutes and others hours but at the end of it all we shall all get to the pinnacle(some wise words there for life 😊). Some things to note 1.Prepare physically for the climb. Some squats and cardio during the preceding week won’t be bad. 2.Stay hydrated!!! This can’t be overemphasised. Those sips of water or glucose solution will help a lot. 3.Keep an insect repellent close. Those insects in the ‘forest’ aren’t very welcoming. 4.Get some healthy and light nibbles for the climb. It could be a granola bar, chocolate or nuts to munch on when the need arises. 5.Come along with a walking stick(you read right!) or you can make do with some sticks lying around the foot of Afadjato. 6.Find a walking companion to cheer you on and pull you up or vise versa. 7.Take loads of pictures and videos right from the foot of the mountain to the top. You will be glad you did. 8.Wear light clothing and comfortable sneakers. Preferably your workout clothes. 9.Keep some analgesics on you for emergency moments. 10.Don’t litter. Drop your waste in the bins provided along the path. If I forgot anything, I will update later 😉😉.

The trip to  Afadjato was an interesting one, to say the least. The initial set-off time was 6 am but we ended up leaving at 7:30 am. I remember stories my sister told me of her experience climbing the mountain years ago of how some got to just the 1st level and had to return and what have you. With all this in mind and the fulfilment of making it to the top, I added it to my bucket list and I almost ticked it off but the weather had a mind of its own and made it impossible. the weather had its plan and delayed us for 30 minutes. This was the first trip id been on and it rained before set off, I forgot we were in the rainy season; therefore, I entreat you always check the weather forecast before planning a trip for a better experience. This was my first trip with an organized group as I always go with my friend Kan., we set off on the Tema motorway with no traffic in a big air-conditioned bus and I sat by the window. My concern was, there's no market or an eatery for people to eat at. Which is very bad. And they should have The road at a point is very bad also.

Mount Afadja, known as Afadjato to the Ewe people of Ghana and Togo, is the highest mountain in Ghana.[2] The summit is located in the Volta Region, near the border with Togo, close to the villages of Liati Wote and Gbledi Gbogame in the Afadjato South District and Hohoe Municipality, respectively. It is about 178 kilometers (111 mi) northeast of Accra, and 178 kilometers (111 mi) northwest of LomÊ. Part of the Agumatsa sub-range of the West Africa Mountains, its summit is 885 metres (2,904 ft) above sea level. The summit of Mount Aduadu (746 metres (2,448 ft)) lies 3.5 kilometers (2 mi)

The mountain's name is "Afadja," while the suffix "-to" in the Ewe language means mountain. The correct name in the English language, therefore, would be "Mount Afadja", as "Mount Afadjato" would be a repetition of the word "mountain".

When the Ewe people migrated to the area and saw the mountain, it looked like the mound in which water yam is planted, water yam being called "Avadze" in Ewe. Moreover, there were some creeping plants on the mountain that resembled the water yam plant; they therefore called it "Avadze-to". Today the word has been palatalized into "Afadjato".[citation needed]

Mount Afadja is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Volta Region of Ghana, welcoming thousands of visitors from around the globe annually. The nearby Tagbo Falls and Wli Falls (the highest in West Africa) are also popular tourist attractions. There are several caves, streams and other waterfalls...
