Kolejny raz wróciłem do tego miejsca. Mistyczne. Ale: Google miesza zdjęcia z klasztoru na górze Ithome ze zdjęciami z antycznej Messiny. Moje zdjęcie było prawidłowo geotagowane, teraz jest wrzucone do wspólnego worka. Bez sensu. To każe wątpić w geotagowanie wszystkich innych zdjęć, podważa wiarygodność autorów.

Η Ιθώμη είναι βουνό στη βόρεια πλευρά της Μεσσηνίας. Στους πρόποδες του βουνού της Ιθώμης, χτίστηκε περίπου τον 4ο αιώνα π.Χ. η Αρχαία Μεσσήνη. Στην Αρχαία Ιθώμη υπήρχε οχυρό. Διατηρούνται μέχρι σήμερα ερείπια από τον περίβολο του οχυρού. Στην κορυφή του βουνού της Ιθώμης βρίσκεται σήμερα το μοναστήρι της Παναγίας Βουλκάνου. Το βουνό ήταν αφιερωμένο στο Δία τον Ιθωμάτα. Στην κορυφή του βουνού υπήρχε ένα ιερό του με βωμό. Ο Παυσανίας αναφέρει πως οι Μεσσήνιοι διεκδικούσαν τη γέννηση και ανατροφή του Δία στον τόπο τους καθώς και ότι από την πηγή Κλεψύδρα έφερναν καθημερινά νερό στο ιερό της κορυφής. Στην περιοχή έχουν εντοπιστεί τα θεμέλια ιωνικού ναού με κίονες. Ο ναός ήταν αφιερωμένος στη θεά Αρτέμιδα. Το οχυρό της Ιθώμης έπαιξε σημαντικό ρόλο στις πολεμικές συγκρούσεις ανάμεσα σε Μεσσήνιους...
