I did Premium wine tasting with my partner and I have to say that the experience was one of the most disappointing encounter and unpleasant one in my life. Given the instructions on the website, we were very meticulous and arrived 10 minutes earlier than our tasting session. However the session started with a 30 min delay and nobody neither explained why nor apologized for the delay. for other people to arrive without any explanations and apologies. During the session the host informed us about each wine (we tasted 6 by the way), but he just left after every serving. He seemed bored, forced and annoyed by everyone’s presence. One would expect a tasting session to be interactive and engaging with the host. However it was not even being close to being fun and informative. Additionally, we used the same wine glass for all the different wines. Finally, I have to emphasize that the host was very rude to a lady who was trying to learn about local grapes. We couldn’t believe the hostility. I would suggest to choose another winery for a pleasant tasting session. This was...
Read more4.5 stars. Affordable wine tasting within driving distance of Paleochora. For 19 euros per person, they provided a lot of olives, soft white cheese, tomatoes, and sesame crackers and tastes of 6 different wines. With each taste, one of the staff tells you the story of the wine and the smells; tastes, flavors that you might expect. It was a nice way to kill a few hours. After the tasting, we decided to buy a bottle. 3 of the 6 bottles were 10 euros in price and the other 3 were around 18 euros I believe. Parking is on the street in front of the building.
There’s not much of a Mountain View from the vineyard even though you are high up but it was pleasant to sit on their grounds, enjoy our bottle, and talk. There’s also a tiny church and a bell on the grounds. There was a nice group of English speaking ex-pat Europeans who happened to have their tasting with us so we chatted with them as well.
Nearby is the oldest olive tree in the world- so we saw that on the way back to Paleochora. It has a very small museum and a place with not-so-good tasting ice...
Read moreWe did Premium wine tasting as a couple and it was our most inhospitable encounter and the most unpleasant experience in Crete. Respecting the instructions on the website, we arrived 10 minutes earlier than our tasting session. It was supposed to start at 14:30, but we’ve been left waiting 30 minutes for other people to arrive without any explanations and apologies. When everyone arrived, our host started getting the snacks and the wine ready, which took another 15 minutes. It felt like as if we were unexpected guests on this winery, a business which does wine tastings 10 times everyday! During the session the host informed us about the wine, but he just left after every serve. One would expect a tasting session to be interactive and engaging with the host. It was also shocking that we had to use the same wine glass for all the different wines. Finally the host was very rude to a lady who asked questions at the end. I would suggest to choose another winery for a pleasant...
