Pachnes is the highest peak of the White Mountains standing at 2453 meters. It is an easy hike but with the most amazing view ever imagined. If you are a hiker you must visit this summit
How to get there: There is a dirtroad from the village of Anopolis. You can drive to the start of the trail. But you have to use a jeep or else things needs real caution and you run the risk of damaging your car. An alternative is to hike from Anopolis. The long route to Pachnes is to hike from Kalergi Shelter to Katsivelis shelter and then to Pachnes.

Read moreWe started at 7am from Anopoli going by Seat Ibiza car the mountain road. The road was not so bad, but too long. We had to go slowly and it took us 2h going up. Then we had to walk last 3km of the road, due to big holes in the road. We managed it without any accident, but I recommand to ask at Taverna in Anopoli for a lift by SUV, because SUV car can manage the trip much quicker and safier. Read moreIncredible!! First, Rent your electric bikes or hire a ride at the Anopoli Taverna (where the food is « always » amazing and fresh) and go up to the end of the road. Then hike up to the top of Crete - 1.5 hours or so, for magnificent views of the seas surrounding Crete. At the top, it can be extremely cold! In july, I had a tuque, pants, gloves, icebreaker sweater and a wind breaker. The first time we went we hiked back the 21 kms and the second time, we biked back downhill for 21 kms....
