Started the walk / climb from Potamia right by the 'magic tree' that has a tap of clean water flowing through. Took us 3 hours up and 3 hours down (we wasted 30 minutes on our way down because we got lost... More than once) . It's a beautiful journey to the top but (1.) The path isn't very clear as otherwise stated here. You have to play treasure hunt to find the red arrows/paint at times and it is easy to get lost off the path. You then need to retrace your steps and look again for the signs / red paint patiently as it becomes too dangerous to make it through on your own. (2.) We googled that there are snakes - even poisonous ones - don't be scared , we heard plenty of snakes from a distance but never saw any through the entire 6 hour hike. Just be careful where you step just in case. (3.) You MUST wear proper shoes, the climb absolutely should not be done in sandals or flip flops (to me this is obvious, I wore trekking shoes but I saw a woman trying to go up with sandals at the start and was baffled). It is already not that easy to go up with proper shoes, my partner and I are young 25-27 year olds and fit and it wasn't a walk in the park. (4.) When you get to the top there's a yellow metal box with an alleged 'book' inside to write your name. The concept is sweet but the 'book' is actually a bunch of squashed and thorn papers but we still managed to leave a note :). Overall it was a lovely experience, a little hot in August and you're not always shielded. Throughout most of the trail we were in the sun. I recommend sun block and a hat if you're going in Summer. We got sunburnt a little. (5.) Also take the signs showing how many metres are left until you reach the top with a pinch of salt and just assume you have to walk for a little (or a lot) more to get to the top. Also take water, lots of...
Read moreOkay, where to start. I walked here from the village of Potamia, thinking I would spice up my stay at the seaside and lose some of those all-inclusive desserts.
The journey to the summit itself is very pleasant. It leads through beautiful nature and you meet very few people. Of course, it is more demanding and I recommend it to people who are in good physical condition. Unfortunately, the summit itself has fallen victim to mass tourism. Jeeps, quad bikes, and guides drive up there. I sat at the top for two hours waiting for a moment of peace, but unfortunately in vain. There are beautiful views and panoramas here, but you should have to earn them. So if you are looking for solitude, peace, and a connection with nature, adjust your expectations or...

Not easy as some people say, mainly due to the heat, not enough trees to hide from the sun.
Started the hike at 7:30, 3 hours to the summit.
Alone, 4L of water were not enough for the ascend (I sweat a lot), descending at mid day without water was very tough, so don't take it lightly, carry as much water as you can.
Drank from the magic tree after decending, my phobia of bees didn't stop me from getting in the swarm to drink lol
Don't let that discourage you, it's a beautiful hike and an amazing view from the top and...
